Attendances are bad everywhere this year, it's pretty bad in the Welsh Premier too. Last week's match between The New Saints and Rhyl which usually gets at least 600-700 attracted a mere 376. Probably has something to do with the economic downturn, but whatever the reason, it's definitely not exclusive to Ireland.

Linfields crowds are very poor this season, look on the Linfield forums and you'll notice how we are all commenting on it.

Our average will read around 2800-3000 we still have to play Glentoran twice at Windsor and then we have other big games through out the season.

Although our support has went to pieces this season, I don't know if this is to do with the credit crunch, the unusually very cold weather or our bad performances. Probably a bit of each.

But our crowds are very poor so far.

http://www.ifapremiership.com/results.htm then click on the "report" link, usually take about a week to appear.

Dont know if the figures include season ticket holders or not but the attendances for Blue, Glens and Cliftonville are all depressingly low, while Institutes seem on the high side.

I would guess that like in 1996 when we tried to cut the smaller clubs out and play each other 5, 6, or even 7 times a season, familiarity is breeding lack of interest.

Would expect some attendances to increase in the 3rd half of the season especially as it looks like Linfield might actually not win the league this season

What was the crowd for Linfield v Glentoran yesterday ?

The avg crowds so far in the IPL (w/o Lin/Glen) would compare to LOI First Div (top half)

    Linfield/Glens are ok at 1,500 + each

Any figs from the IFA Championship ????

As the link you've posted shows, the stats don't back that view up though Cymro.

The Welsh Premeir is actually having its best season ever so-far with regards attendances. The Rhyl-Prestatyn derby on the 27th had a crowd of over 2,100 at it - which is virtually unheard of in Welsh football. The Caernarfon-Bnagor derby the day before that had over 1,000 at it as well.

Regarding the New Saints, their crowds are poor for a team that is always at or near the top of the league, so I wouldn't read too much into them - particularly as they're looking unlikely to win the title again this year. 376 isn't that out of the ordinary an attendance for them - they're averaging 295 a game this season to-date.

The problem with the Welsh league and attendance figures is that the numbers are so low that it isn't difficult for a small number of people to buck the figures in a large way either up or down. If 50 less people turn up to every game one weekend, the averages get completely blown, and vice-versa, as the league only averages about 300 per fixture.

It's great that the Welsh Premier publically report all attendances however - even if it does have tax implications. The Republic's clubs have no excuse.

Looked to be 4000+ in the N stand and the south [3000] and kop [4000] stands looked fairly well filled....would say they had 10000 easily. "official" crowd will probably be around 6000 though

    No, there wasn't.
The Englishmen came over in the year 2005
But little did they know that we'd planned a wee surprise
Sir David scored the winner, and Windsor Park went wild

The stand behind where Spike scored those two little beauties is The Railway Stand - it is closed, and only holds 500 max anyway.

Ok fair enough, 10,000 is a great crowd for a domestic game, anywhere in Ireland.

Shame we cant get even half that as an avg in both lges.

According to the Derry City Chairman you didn't get 3000 at a game. So I'll take the average figure on this site with a major pinch of salt.

Our league is still going, we'll compare ourselves with other official attendances. (although I'm sceptical about some 'Official' attendances in the IL)

I'm not a Derry City fan by the way! I'm a Cork City fan and our attendance are official and have a electronic ticket scanning machine to make it accurate.
