    Thumbs up Bond is back!

Anyone else looking forward to (awful title aside) Quantum of Solace? As a long time Bond fan I loved CR, especially after the turgid offerings directly prior to it. QoS has a pretty good director, Marc Forster in charge and looks like it might be able to follow up what was the best Bond in years. Anyone else counting down the days?

The ‘serious’ new Bond film has not only excitement but critical credibility in its sights

Loved Casino Royale, and as a life long Bond fan, I really like the direction the francise is going. QOS should be a cracker. They are going all Dark Knight on it, with Bond getting nasty. Should be a treat.

Loved Casino Royale but I'm a bit worried that they are turning the franchise into a 2hr product advertisement. I hear he even orders a Coke Zero instead of a martini at one point in this, really hope it's not true but all the same

Gagging for it. Life long Bond-head and I cannot wait. Currently reading Moonraker as preparation, though I haven't read QoS yet.

That would be awful: while it could be said that there is a hell of a lot of (unsolicited) product placement in the books, this would be a disaster, IMO.
That question was less stupid, though you asked it in a profoundly stupid way.

Help me, Arthur Murphy, you're my only hope!

You're missing Thunderball, the best Bond film. I love the James Bond franchise (my brother has every one of them on DVD back in my parents' house and I'd watch them over and over). I thought Casino Royale was brilliant. It was easily the best one since Goldeneye.. Some of those later Brosnan ones were dodgy - Die Another Day with the invisible car? This new direction they are taking with Craig is very promising!

One thing I do miss though is the really great Henchmen.. Oddjob, Jaws, etc.. Looks like nothing like that in new one either.. Pity.

Yeah I'd have to agree with that, some of the older henchmen were class. Although Jaws became a sap in Mookraker, becoming 'good' at the end and going off with that pigtailed girlfriend of his.. Mookraker is easily the worst Bond film actually - so many cringe moments in it!

    "Stop getting Bond wrong!!!"

Somebody should show that to the current people in charge.
I caught the end of a very 007-esque Coke Zero ad on telly last night, so looks like your disaster has come to pass Bluebeard. Just this second I see Craig whoring it up on ITV with Sony HD for another tie-in. That finishes it with James Bond for me.

Sadly, these two proposed theme tunes for the new flick did not get selected.

Probably the best story of them all. I liked Lazenby too, very understated performance.
