What competition are the U17 girls preparing for at the moment? I know they're off somewhere later this year but just wondering are there any details on this competition?

Results of matches in other groups in the qualifiers to date and group standings are all on the UEFA website at http://www.uefa.com/competitions/wunder17/index.html
The squad travel to Antalya on October 16th. The Irish girls are in Group 5 with their first match against Turkey on Saturday 18th. The second placed team in the group will also be in with a chance of getting through to the elite phase.
Results in Group 5
Rep of Ireland 2, Turkey 1
Rep of Ireland 3, Faroe Islands 0
Rep of Ireland 0, Netherlands 2
Netherlands- played 3 9 points
Republic of Ireland-played 3, 6 points
Turkey - played 3, 3 points
Faroe Islands - played 3, 0 points
Ireland finished on 6 points in Group 5, with 3 points against the first and third placed teams (Netherlands and Turkey) and with a goal difference of -1 against these two. Currently Ireland in 5th in line for one of the 6 qualifying places for runners up in each group with just two groups still to be decided. Switzerland beating Scotland 2-0 in Group 8 yesterday was a hugely important result leaving Scotland behid Ireland on goals scored. Looks like Spain are the most likely to do the Irish girls another favour if they can beat Wales by 2-0 or more on Sunday. By my calculations that would be enough to put Ireland through to the next phase.
god, from the name of the thread i thought ye were advertising!!![]()

*6 best second placed teams from 10 groups
Ireland ended up seventh best second placed team with a goal difference of -1 and just miss out on qualification. One more goal against either Turkey or Holland would have been enough.
by the way - that Spain v Wales result on Sunday was 2-1. Agonisingly close for the Irish girls!
close, but not good enough
