We played Hyde a couple of weeks ago and we had the young ref(Name anybody??)
The Hyde Forward gave the ref some abuse and the ref just gave it straight back...First bit of common sense by a ref iv seen this season,he realised that things are said in the heat of the moment and didnt over-react!!

I think you don't have all the facts or even accurate ones at that (apart from nabs being sent off)

And now you said it.Was talking to a few wembley player's and they said paul mccormack got the same as dunphy for a mistimed tackle. They said he caught him alright but it's hardly as bad as throwing punches.call the ref something in the heat of the moment or throw punches,no difference now with these decisions.

I know that, but in all fairness, which offence is worse?

    1) Verbally abusing an official in the heat of the moment (which happens a lot), if the refs makes a poor decision
    or
    2) A violent attack on an apposing player?

I would say the latter, but yet it gets less punishment!!!!!!!

Yes, but not ALL refs are the same (most wont communicate with players)
Some refs love the power and at times it goes to their heads.
I could name more than a few refs that WILL NOT EXPLAIN a decision (not even to the captain), and would rather threaten the player by telling him to move away or be booked.

For me, a better ref, is one who will take a second or two to explain a decision (whether or not the player agrees), and IMO if all refs done this they would have more respect on a football pitch, from both players and supporters.

I had one who thankfully doesnt ref anymore tell me to "Get the f**k out of my face or ill put you outside the gate".. when i question a decision.. now the fact that i was playing and managing the team did not make any difference. I had to take myself off soon after as i felt i would have done something stupid. The point is, some refs will not take the time to defuse situations and in some cases make it worse...

it was always going to be a tough season for ye so considering the experienced heads ye lost, when it comes to the matches which are battles a young side will find it tough cos most of them wont be used to it

as tough a job as referee's have and i do think its a thankless job, most of them dont do themselves any favours. we had the same referee 2 games runnin and in the first game i've never seen a ref take so much abuse but he just laughed it off and didnt book a single player for mouthin, and the followin week he was dishin out yellows for questioning a decision!!
