Maybe some of our Swiss visitors can help me out here
There are four of am flying into Geneva on Friday lunchtime and plan on getting the train to Basle(Geneva was really cheap from Belfast)
What's the cheapest way to get the train to Basle? We'll have two students and two paying the full fare
Would I be better to book my tickets now or wait and get them when I arrive
Swiss trains are very expensive, a return ticket is 130 CHF, a one-way ticket 71 CHF.
If you can, use Click&Rail, see the following link:
http://www.sbb.ch/pv/clickrail/help_faq_e.htm
It only works for a very limited number of trains and you can book two days in advance. Read the FAQ very carefully!
If you can use Click&Rail both ways, you'll pay 48 CHF per person (both ways).
There are no general reductions for students, only for children under the age of 16.
