    eflow Problems

Right I have a little question about this. We have northern drivers and plenty of polish etc drivers with their cars on the roads, how is this eflow going to work for them, what is stop them driving away on the new m50 and not pay apenny.

As I understand it the system logs your reg and sends you a bill (if you haven't a tag), so how can these drivers be billed? I have looked it up on their website but no answers and I am wondering has anyone else heard how they will handle this aspect?

A european wide data base is being worked on so Toll companies from other countries can bill drivers anywhere in the EU. At the moment they dont pay unless they are honnest enough to buy the pre pay thing.

    Angry Pathetic

    10% Failure Rate

DUBLIN'S NEW barrier-free tolling system on the M50 failed to operate correctly, in the first week of the introduction of the new system, for about 20,000 vehicles a day.

The failure rate has dropped since then, but still stands at about 10,000 vehicles a day, or 10 per cent of all West-Link traffic.

A National Roads Authority spokesman said: "We are eliminating the errors all the time." He added that, when bedded in, the new electronic tolling system would be "the finest in the world".
Only the NRA would think that 10% failure was Finest in the World!

80m to build & something like 25m or up to 20% to operate.

There was a piece on Joe Duffy (I know, I know) a couple of weeks ago about random people all over the country getting a bill in the post for unpaid fees, even though they were nowhere near the road when the computer clocked them driving through.
People were spending up to 35 minutes on the phone line to try to tell someone that the €3 fine wasn't for them.
A few people just said 'sod it', threw the bill in the bin arguing that they were innocent until proven guilty, and why should they bend over backwards to help out the eFlow teething problems. They had a point, I guess.

Read in the paper yesterday that 25% of the staff in the Newry call centre had resigned only a week after going on the job due to the abuse they were receiving from 'irate' motorists.

I still think there should be the occasional 'pay point' along the way, so that infrequent users can pull in and pay, and just let everyone else who has the tag drive on without delay.

He's referring to the other NRA. Missing one shot in ten is acceptable.
