Pats were excellent. Confident, purposeful, skillful. Fahey was very impressive. We're getting closer every year.
Unlucky Pat's. Great performance, easily worth two goals. And that was definitely a penalty in the first half.

I expected comments here along the lines of "Pats threw away the greatest chance the League had in years of progressing in Europe", was all ready to defend the team, so I'm a bit relieved I don't have to now... we did sort of do that though.
I can't criticise my club, those players, they gave it everything. Very emotional. Gutted we won't have another European season with Keith Fahey in our side. I can't see him staying now. He's just a class above.

I saw, you made some forceful points in the Fahey thread.
I hope he avoids Britain as well obviously, but I think he'd want to go there, probably feels he has a point to prove after his time at Arsenal and Villa. He's a far better player now than he was when he first signed for Pats, that's for sure.
People forget that Dempsey was playing in the SPL until recently as well - O'Cearuill can't get into our team but was capped by Staunton. We're not a million miles away from making the breakthrough. But I'd like to see an Irish club not only get to the group stages, but to be competitive in those games. We've had a few teams be competitive in the first round - now to the next level. When I started going to games as a kid in the mid 90s, winning the first qualifying round in Europe was a freak result, and that wasn't too long ago. It's a far greater gap this time, but what's the point in being negative? Believe.![]()
Thought we played well. Fahey wasn't at his best tonight and still looked class against a midfield full of internationals. Dempsey was brilliant for Pats too
Bit unlucky on the night but there you go. Hopefully next year we can push on

That was it exactly. Can't remember if it was Gabriel that was presenting it but he said something along the lines of 'ack its alright'. As if to say its only you Eoin. Don't worry about it.
Harmless stuff but very very funny. Eoin Hand is a legend. I think he was still a bit rattled and heated from the confrontation with Eamon Collins.
Well done St Pats. By all accounts they rattled Hertha whom I believe were shaking their heads in disbelief at half time.
Eoin Hand called who bullsh*ters??? Is this online anywhere? I have to say Hand always has it right. When theres something wrong in the league he always spits it out and he doesn't fap about on issues either, he tells ya how it is, so i'd love to hear what he said.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
Bad luck st Pats.Def deserved a bit more but have given so us all some rewarding moments this season.
We live in hope Gentlemen, we live in hope.
Delighted I was able to go to that. Sickened that Pat's didn't get the win they deserved. I thought Dempsey and Lynch were the outstanding players for Pat's, Fahey disappointed me a little, I thought his passing was a little off, especially in the first half, that's not to say he wasn't very good, just that I've seen him play better.
Lynch was my man of the match despite fluffing a great chance and getting sent off. Thought the crowd was fantastic, even down in block H where I was, well away from the main singing crowd, we were joining in with the chants and getting behind the team. Almost pulled my hair out when Pat's hit the post for the second time. Spotted a Bray jersey and a Derry City (or might have been Sligo) in my section. Great night for the league I thought, just a pity they couldn't get that goal. I'd say over 6,000 there.

Tommy Smith, the pain in the ass commentator on ESPN, was doing the Man United Champions League today, and actually said, ' i just wanna take a minute and say what a fantastic result St Patrick's Atheltic had tonight against a great Hetha Berlin team' and mentioned something about showing some people up who diregard the League of Ireland

Pat's were easily the better team but didn't take their chances. Fahey was running the show. FYP![]()
I take it you don't know your way around Dublin too well then? If you meant Phibsborough - where the Home Of Irish Football is located, maybe you could do with some English reading lessons:Location: Glasnevin, Dublin 11![]()

I thought McDonnell did bottle it a bit and took the draw after an hour. Pat's were crying out for a double substitution with half an hour to go (Murphy for Fitzpatrick, O'Brien for Guy with Kirby going wide right) but he waited until the tie was irretrievable before making a move.
Quigley needs a slap too, if he didn't spend so much time trying to be a playmaker in a team that already has one Pat's would be much healthier.
Very good performance, all in all. Hertha Berlin (Cicero apart) are not a better team than St. Patrick's Athletic, it's as simple as that.

I was listening to this on the way home from training, it was great entertainment, very funny but also quite true. they brought the debate round to why Leinster can pack out the rds every other week but LOI games are still getting bad crowds. The host asked Eoin Hand and Jim mcLaughlin for their ideas. Neither could give an exact answer but Hand said how we need to get the right people sitting down and coming up with ideas but also that "... we need to get rid of the bull****ters" and then as SkStu says, he sort of apologised but the host told him not to worry about it!!!
I've listened to most of the radio 1 coverage of the LOI teams in europe this season (due to a half hour drive after training) and it has been great. All of the guests and presenters are LOI to the bone. Fair play to Pats btw, would have done it on a different night
Havin a weekend away is quite frankly, lettin ur team mates down!
