McCarthy is a 26 year old defender floating around the lower leagues. Unlikely to get much better at this stage of his career. McShane is still a better option than him ffs.

McCann is only 22 and plays regularly in the Premiership and has improved every season since he first made the Burnley team. If you can't see the difference then you really are beyond all hope.

McCann plays regularly in the premiership?! 4 times!!!! Earlier in this thread you dismissed Fahey because he had only played 2 games games in the premiership, but 4 is enough for McCann to be playing regularly?! Just give up, you haven't a clue.
And the rest of my post? Just ignoring it because you're wrong?

It's all about being the foot.ie master.

Entertaining stuff though I must confess, think Kev has the upper hand at the minute but it could change in a shot!

    Dear Kev

You will find it much less time consuming to post a message when youngirish gets something right, instead of pulling him up each time he's wrong.

If you don't have a job, then maybe its ok!

Didn't you earlier ignore my post regarding O'Donovan because you were shown to be wrong? Move out of that glass house. As stated earlier my initial assessment of McCarthy has turned out to be right and you were wrong. He is sh*t wasn't that the initial disagreement? We can argue all day about how much Leicester wanted to sell him or how valuable they thought he was to the squad but at the end of the day you don't know the answer to these questions and he left because Leicester didn't/wouldn't/couldn't offer him a deal he wanted and he hasn't lit up any of his subsequent clubs. As for your silly claim about him being captain as if that has relevance to his ability or worth to the club, look at it this way, Richard Dunne was city's captain yet they offloaded him as soon as a suitable offer came in.

Is Fahey a better player than Andy Reid, Stephen McPhail or Owen Garvan?

All seem to be talented left footed midfielders with a bit of class about them but none (as yet, in the case of Fahey & Garvan) has sustained form at a level above EPL relegation candidate.

(Is Fahey left footed, or just played on the left?)

Kevin Foley starts for Brum today. Dunne for Villa.

    Crasley on bench.

Carsley says that Keith Fahey has almost effortlessly taken to playing in the EPL. Saw it in Irish Times online I think.

Are you Eamonn Dunphy. I think he made a similiar mistake recently.

Just watching the Birmingham derby...Keith Fahey doing very well..Andy Reid scored a great goal yesterday...how Miller with no club and even Gibson etc make the International squad ahead of these two is mind blowing...a stubborn old man.

Seen fahey in a few games now, have to say I'm not that keen on him.

Seems like a poor man's Keith Andrews to me, very unimposing and difficult to notice that he's actually playing at times. I don't think he's premiership class.

a poor Mans Keith Andrews??..very harsh thing to say about any footballer!!!...Fahey is a way more intelligent and skillful footballer..as i seen many times in the flesh around LOI grounds but as you never go you would have missed that...also was well able for the championship and was very important in getting them promoted...i wont judge him after 4 or 5 games in the premiership although he seems to be doing ok to me!!..and anyway back to my original point do you think Liam Miller is a better option??

I saw the Villa match today and I wasn't impressed with Fahey, but I wasn't impressed with Dunne either and he won man of the match in fantasy football so maybe I'm out to lunch!

hmm I'm not sure about Miller. Right now I'm happy for him to be around the 5th choice back up and on the squad since I don't ever conceivably see him getting on the pitch but that might change if there were serious injuries and he actually had to start.

I think not though, Miller is an incredibly average player but he's never really let us down like say an Alan Quinn or Jonathon Douglas might, Miller has always held his own when played, although usually doing precious little more than that.

For this campaign it's an easy decision between Miller and Fahey. One has the experience in the squad, one doesn't. Long term, I don't know. I really don't want to see either of those guys on the pitch for us as in an ideal world we'd have a fit and ready S.Reid, S.Ireland, A.Reid and Whelan, Gibson and Andrews all the time. But it's not an ideal world so I'd probably like to see Fahey get a chance in a friendly, he deserves a chance at least.

No chance of him being better than Reid or Garvan. Can't comment on McPhail as I haven't seen him for a couple of years, when he was doing quite well at Cardiff.

Great ball in from Fahey for the goal. Nice to see him in the starting 11.
I’m not pedantic...I’m merely overly concerned with minute details.
