Exclamation How many clubs next season ??

    Anyone heard what is happenning?

I understand only a few clubs were able to produce tax clearance certificates.

Will there be enough clubs for two divisions next year?
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

I doubt it very much if the fai stick to their deadline of the start of next season for full implementation of the uefa licencing system then it will be just 1 division with very few teams

Ah, I'd say we'll all get our act in order at the last minute, although I hope UCD and Dublin City fail and get destroyed, never to return to the eL again, then pave the way for the Kerry and Mayo Leagues to join.

But if a load of premier teams are kicked out, will there be an election for clubs to take their place?

Can't see the FAI kicking any one out of the league and replacing them with Kerry and Mayo

The FAI are being a bit rich to enforce this deadline if they don't help out financially. Part of their deal with the government for the national stadium was that some clubs would get money but how many did besides Shamrock Rovers??

Derry are leading the field in compliance at the minute boys

We are nowhere near yet- but apparently we are head of the pack
Tifo poles, sausage rolls and a few goals.

Rovers with their imaginary stadium are going to get a licence, while UCD, who are starting construction on a stand which will take the seated capacity of Belfield Park to over 2500 will not? What source are you quoting, or is this just random bull**** from your imagination.

And it's "their new ground", not "there new ground"

'Fraid not, Éamo (at least not from what I've heard). Nobody meets the entire licencing agreement with the possible exception of Longford. Every other club has work to do. A few examples -

Bray - The stand has no roof. The jacks are the worst in the league.
Dundalk - Has mainly wooden benches in the stand and not seats? If so, that won't be good enough.
    Pat's - Jacks are a tip.
Athlone - You're kidding, right?! Athlone's new ground may be good enough, but then you might as well take into account everybody else's improvements. Athlone obviously won't make it as things stand.

A rumour I've heard is that the clubs may request the licencing to be put back a season to give them more time to comply, with maybe a grant going to clubs who are in Europe to get them up to speed. This apparently has something to do with the Government or the FAI pulling out of funding??

Bray announced a while back that they're doing up their ground. Can't remember the exact details though.

We are definitely getting a new stand and if we don't get the licencse we'll be closer than a lot of people will think.

After that there are only a few other things such as building toilets on the other side of the ground (that's about the only major thing, everything else is fairly minor).

My main concern for Longford would be the size of the pitch. Apart from that it's jacks on the our side of the ground.....

Financially I'm not 100%, although we must have tax clearance as we have a FÁS scheme and you wouldn't get any payments over €6500 if you haven't.....

The ones I could see having problems are:
Drogs - no where close to enough seats
UCD - Personally I'd be surprised if the current stand reaches requirements. I know I'm a UCD basher, but I don't see how a wooden stand is still allowed getting on for 20 years after Bradford...
Bray - No covered seats and still a grass bank behind on of the goals
Athlone - LOL, unless they get their new ground sharpish
    Harps - ditto

Whats the story with derrogations - will the FAI be giving them if clubs have plans (much the same way as FIFA/UEFA have been giving them derrogations for the temp seats?)
If you attack me with stupidity, I'll be forced to defend myself with sarcasm.

That's a good question, but AFAIK, there's no problem with that stand, though it's scheduled to be replaced in the medium term.

    I'm sure they will.

I'd doubt that the FAI will actually remove clubs from the league next season (after all, we've only got four clubs in Europe and at least three of them will have their house in order - Shels, Bohs and City), I mean, they can't really have like a six team league. We'd be the laughing stock of World Football (if we're not already).

How many of the first division teams can actually get promoted with things as they are? Not many, I'd wager.

How come there hasn't been a huge deal made of this? Surely the papers would be jumping on a story to criticise the league. And just what is needed for these UEFA things anyway, is there a site or somewhere that says it? And of the three cup teams left, Longford Pats and Bohs, it looks like they'll have their house in order as well.

And students, you must be joking if you think that stand'll pass, Im very surprised it hasn't fallen down at least once, it practicaly shakes as you walk on it.

I'd say, if things really got up **** creak, the league would pull out of Europe for a while to get itself together, if we can. Would that mean the international team can't play in Europe either? That'll teach those armchair fan *******s.

The requirement is for 1500 covered seats, therefore it'll pass (size excepted). It's not the greatest of stands by a long shot obviously, but looks like it'll do the job. New stand going up as part of UEFA licencing as well apparently.

I know that alright - they're putting a roof on the stand - but my point was that they won't make UEFA licencing currently, whereas Éamo's list was a random mix of those who won't make it currently and those who may make it if they do what they say they are going to do, which makes for very unfair comparison.

The papers have been jumping on it

There was a full page in the Sunday Times a few weeks back- and they never cover Irish football
Tifo poles, sausage rolls and a few goals.
