They're pretty common in North Dublin anyway, I just killed two of them tonight.
Anyone ever came across any or insects that at least appear to look like them?
I was in Crete at the end of July, my first time i've seeing them, they would be all over our apartment so i got a good look on more then one occasion.
Then tonight i saw on the outside of the window what appeared to be one, much bigger and visible then in Greece but looked the exact same, decided to Google ''Ireland Mosquito's'' to see what i could find and came across a lot of posts going back as far as 2004 from various people reporting to have found them in their houses etc.... i have to say i NEVER heard the likes of this before, i was under the assumption that they were'nt present in places further north of the med'.
Anyway i decided to capture him and take some pictures, what do you reckon??
There's the right way, the wrong way.... and the Max Power way!! :-D

A leading authority on League of Ireland football since 2003. You're probably wrong.

Did you ever notice that in every painting of Adam & Eve, they have belly buttons. Think about that...take as long as you want.

There are apparently two species, at least, in Ireland, saw that on that mad woman's kids programme one time.
I get constantly plagued with them playing football of an evening, must have rich blood!
A few years back, playing big football (so I had socks on up to the knee) near to the river here, I got a total of 30 bites on my calves one night, 9 on one and 21 on the other, all grouped in twos and threes where the vicious little bitches had had several goes from the one landing spot.

there are a few breeds of mosquitos in Ireland now. My back garden in mervue is connected to heneghans florists and everytime I go out there I get bitten at least 30-40 times when Im cutting the grass or whatever. The neighbours say it has been the case for the past 10 years or so now!
Cockroachs, havent they always been around? I remember when i was about 15 or 16, my friend used to have a morning job cleaning in the regional hospital before heading to school and one morning he asked me to give him a hand. When we arrived, he asked me to go into a room down in the basement and get out the mops, but, to firstly just stick my hand in the door, switch on the light, and quickly close the door again! Curiously I asked why and he showed me. When he turned on the light, you could see the entire ceiling of the room (around 15ft sq.) was covered in cockroachs. When he closed the door again you could hear a loud thump of the cockroachs falling to the ground and then hear them all scampering around !!! After about 30 second he opened the door again and went in to kill the remaining one that were still out. His job wasnt cleaning, he was getting the mops, squatters etc. to go around killing any cockroachs that were in sight in the mornings before visitors started coming in, changing traps, and putting down more poison in some worse areas of the hospital to try and minimize the problem. It was the most rotten thing I had ever seen. There must of been 4 or 5,000 roachs that morning on the ceiling of the room, and we would have killed maybe 500 or 600 in the 2 hours working there, with about another 1000 of them in the room in the basement where there was poison, traps etc. as the nest was in there but they were capable of breeding faster that what was been killed. Hate to think what its like now nearly 20 years on even with rentokil and what not nowadays!

The words 'global' and 'warming' spring to mind.
Anyway aint nothing like the ones that attacked me in the swamplands of Maryland, USA one summer. My white football socks turned red very quickly.

Jesus I haven't seen any like the ones Gilberto snapped, or I haven't been bitten badly this summer and I lived in North Dublin for it. Kinda feel rejected now![]()
Had three of them in my bathroom yesterday. Explains where I keep getting these nasty bites from. Currently have one on my forearm and one on my shoulder blade.
We train in Bushy park and the bites everyone ends up with from there are horrible, I've had a couple of massive ones on my calves this year.
I blame my delicious blood.
