    Brian Murphy-Bohs keeper

I read the "Ireland" squad to play Notts Forst in Dalymount Park on Thursday 9th October. What an absolute disgraceful insult to all eircom League players especially young Murphy that he is not involved....Dont give me the match the following night he may be playing blah blah blah.....the game could be played on the Saturday 11th (would probably save on flying players in and out!) if logic was used.................this guy has conceeded EIGHT goals in TWENTY SIX MATCHES all season as Bohs run away with the League........ a fella playing with Scunthorpe, another who is two months left Carlise are chosen ahead of him..............get a grip Trappatoni you clown, Staunton would be pilloried if he did this...................

The reality is if you play in Ireland it's highly unlikely you'll get picked.

    Unfortunate but true.

Let them know who we want to see.

Irish players like Murphy, not some mercenary like Westwood.

Andrews got in,he only moved about 3 weeks ago from League One.

Playing an English team, suppose half of them are English.

We probably have more English players than them

I'm disappointed too. I think players like Fahey and Brian Murphy would deserve a nomination for Irish nationalteam. In so an unimportant match like now against Forest they could get a chance to show her skills absolutely.

I think a "Murphy for Ireland" chant is in order on the night.

At least the players he did pick are playing in a fully professional league. You can't blame Trapattoni for going for the safer bet, especially considering he is an Italian.

Also, Brian Murphy failed at Swansea. When we were in League Two.

How many players failed at the small clubs, before going on to play well for the bigger clubs??

Murphy was also chased by bigger clubs than Swansea in the summer,he turned them down.

Maybe so. However, I've seen Murphy in action several times this year, and some of the saves he's made were Given-esque.

It would be no harm for Trap and Alan Kelly to run the rule over him, surely?

Murphy played the best performance I have seen in a long long time at the Brandywell this season by any visiting player.
As Irishmen we dilute our sense of nation by depending on the English to bring us our balls

He's a superb keeper and I genuinely believe if we had him in goal and Bohs had Barry Ryan, we'd be 16 points clear. Brilliant all round keeper

This is only an Irish XI kickabout. I'd be disgusted if a Pats player played in it with our schedule. I'm sure the lad himself is disappointed but he's bigger than this, frankly embarrassing, game

Yeah I would rather that Murphy plays for Bohs the following night against Drogheda and maybe wins the league title that night or goes pretty close to clinching it. The point is that the LOI is not scheduled to facilitate call ups to international squads as it requires the players to miss games etc.

BTW I think that Murphy is clearly good enough to be in this squad though but he is not available to be picked.

Brian Murphy, Keith Fahey, Colin Healy/Joe Gamble Quigley and Mooney all deserve to be looked at.

Notts Forest. I mean is this some kind of joke.

Bohs would beat them in Dalymount. The Britishness of the Ireland senior squad has actually accellerated under Trapatoni.

Trap did say ideally they'd have liked to play a LOI team but it wouldn't suit our season. He's right.

Those of you who are complaining about the lack of Eircom League players in the squad seem to be missing the fact that there are league matches that weekend so rather than annoy EL managers Trap did the sensible thing and didn't call up any.

From a goalkeeping perspective Alan Kelly is probably the go to man.
He hardly watches much Eircom League.

I agree but the argument (and its equally valid) is that they didn't have to play this game on a Thursday night, and could easily have fit it around the majority of the league and cup schedules.

I fail to see how playing Nott'm Forest will be any sort of measure for budding internationals though

I think its fair to say Bohs will win the league at a canter regardless of whether Murphy plays in that game or not
