Under 19 squad announced for Israel

The Republic of Ireland women’s under 19 manager, Susan Ronan has announced an 18 strong squad who will travel to Israel to compete in the UEFA Championships, 1st qualifying phase where they will face Greece, Iceland and group hosts, Israel. Susan Ronan has picked a number of players who featured for the Irish under 19 side in last year’s campaign when they came agonisingly close to qualification for the UEFA Championship finals.

The Irish manager believes that players such as Niamh Reid-Burke, Karen Duggan, Susan Hackett, Louise Quinn, Amanda Parkes, Gillian McDonnell and Julieanne Russell can benefit from the experience that they have picked up in the previous qualifying campaign. “I think it is always important to give young players the opportunity to test themselves against some of the best teams in Europe in a competitive environment. The players that we have called upon for this qualifying campaign that played last year have vast experience among them and I think this will be an important factor in our march towards qualification,” said Ronan.
