    10 years...I'm getting old.

Don't remember the exact stuff they put on the day but I remember the ad campaign constantly ran in the build up to the launch. "Three, is the magic number...yes it is, it's the magic number... no more no less, three's the best"

"What size shoe do ya want, size three is it"
Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.

One of the first programmes was the news at 6.00, which was an hour long special, which saw the first news story continuing the fallout from the Starr revelations of Lewinski-gate.

It introduced DJ Kinger to present the weather in his unique style. Cantwell was shown with his fingers up his nose, on the late night news round up. While Sports Tonight was launched on the first day, a Sunday, amid much advertising and fanfare.

After Kinger's weather report, RTE's MD lost the plot. He promptly fired all his meterologists, only to re-instate them part-time following viewer revolt. Cue the introduction of Buckley and Carey et al to our screens.

Why's the thread called ShevShe? i remember the first weather forecast on TV3. Middle of a heatwave, Martin King in his sunglasses and using an ironing board as a surfboard saying hello to Michelle and Katy in Banagher and happy birthday to Niall in Lifford.

It's Apres Match's take on the channel name.

King's weather forecasts were and still are, cringeworthy, but he's not near as bad as the worst brolley dolly on tv, so called pro Jean Byrne. Some of her sleepy slow-mo weather descriptions, as depressingly demonstrated below:

    "There

    will

    be

    heav-y

    rain

    spread-ing

    across

    the

    country

    to-night.

    It

    will

    be

    rain-ing

    for

    the

    ent-ire

    wee-kend

    ac-comp-an-ied

    by

    stormforce

    winds

    and

    the

    out-look

    for

    next

    week

    re-mains

    ver-y

    un-sett-led."
