I don't think enough of us have seen enough of him to say one way or the other. Doesn't look like Burnley will get promoted either so that likely won't change anytime soon.

Captained Burnley today with Graham Alexander on the bench.

I often wonder if Coyle will come back for him and make him a Prem player with Bolton. He certainly rated him and I remember him saying he was one of the Burnley players who would comfortably step up with promotion some time back.

Burnley have offered him a new deal and are hoping he will be there next season, but not sounding overly confident either.

Will he have Prem options? Should he take them if so, or stick with the club who seem to have done ok by him so far.

Although I think he looks like a good player, I'd be surprised if a Premier League team come in for him. He has only played 11 league games in the last 2 years, so I doubt he has done much to impress the managers in the top tier. He'd be picked up by another Championship team though, no bother.

Agreed, except Owen Coyle maybe? They have released O'Brien and Cohen also I think, not sure. Also another McCann, Gavin has retired.

The thing about the championship and the premiership is that more and more managers are giving the less burly players a chance now. There seems to be less suspicion about them. Which would be a good thing for McCann. Like so many other promising Irish players before him, it looked like all he needed was a break, but then he got the wrong kind of break.

Should stick with Burnley imo, unless there is genuine interest from Coyle at Bolton. He needs a full season under his belt and where better to get it than at a decent championship club that have stuck by him through his injuries.

    Burnley Captain Chris McCann

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/foot...ey/9556143.stm

Burnley midfielder Chris McCann says he is ready for the responsibility that comes with being captain.

The 24-year-old has been given the armband by manager Eddie Howe.

The Irishman told BBC Radio Lancashire: "It means a lot to me, it's a big responsibility placed on my shoulders and it's a challenge.

"Hopefully I can do myself justice and do the club proud, I'm looking forward to starting the season and hopefully leading the team to glory."

McCann joined Burnley as a 16-year-old and made his debut for the Clarets in August 2005.

He added: "I'm a young captain and it is a lot of responsibility and obviously if things go wrong in the season I will come out and stand up for myself.

"I'm looking forward to it, I'm looking forward to the challenges that it will hold for me and it will be a big learning curve but hopefully it's a challenge I can rise to."

McCann takes over from former skipper Graham Alexander, who left the club in the summer.

"Just look at the captains that have gone before me and you can't really look up to anyone else other than Graham Alexander," McCann said.

"He's a model professional, he was an outstanding captain and a great person."

Burnley start the new season with a home game against Watford on Saturday.

Had to go back 11 pages to re-ignite this post. Just scored 2nite V Ipswich. Appears to be back to his best after his injury. Could he be a bolter for the Euro squad?

Good to see him getting back to his best. Seeming outplayed the Ipswich midfield containing Andrews. Pity Don Givens is one of Traps scouts, as Im sure he won't have forgiven him for the spat they had years ago with the 21s.

I reckon it would definitely be worth checking Kieran Trippier Out - Young Manc Right Back from Man City who was part of their Youth Cup Winning Team. He's on loan at Burnley and gets up the line really well with some great crosses as well. Played a blinder against Leeds recently and played well last night be all accounts. Played once for England U20's.

Has anyone got a contact at the FAI to contact with regards to him.

It'd obviously never happen but I'd love to see a B team play the A team (not the lads off the telly who were incarcerated for crimes they did not commit) sometime. It'd be fascinating.

Just saw his goal on the football show. Good header. Got up well. On a negative note, commentator called him Brian McCann (i think, wasn't Chris anyways). He can't be happy with that
