To answer your question, no as Cisse scored the other week for them. Anymore questions.

In fairness, there was no question mark.

Long got his first goal today, so it would be unfair to include him with the trio of other Irish players who are on fire.

All Irish scorers today in the 3-1 for Reading over Burnley. Long, the 2 Hunts and McCann. Good stuff. Doyle also made at least one of the Reading goals.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

Noel is surely worth a look? Assuming he isn't badly injured after scoring that first goal.

He certainly is scoring for fun at the moment.

Yeah fair play to him, he's doing much better than I thought he would. I hope the two weeks off don't disrupt his form.

Keane and Doyle are without a doubth Ireland's best two strikers at the moment, if they are our best partnership is another argument. Anway there is not much quailty to replace either of these two if they are injured or if Trap wants to change things around up front at some stage of a game.
At the moment rather than a straight swap of a striker-for-a-striker it would need a change of system and brining on one of our attack-minded midfielders, if we really need to open a team up.

None of Stokes, Murphy, Keogh or Long have really impressed when given a chance, although Long has a decent goals-to-games ratio.
On current form, if he wasn't Injured, I would have no complaints if Hunt was to replace any of the substitute strikers in the squad. He has proven so far to be a good partner for Doyle.

Presumably the first time there have been 4 Irish goalscorers in one match in the UK. Probably anywhere other than Ireland - even in an international?

stutts im not fully sure what your point about internationals as to me it doesnt make sense. but what about a score game where an irish international scored an own goal, and that was the only goal scored for the international team.

I presume the International point is that in an International game all the players on each team come from the same country making it more likely that 4 scorers from the same country would score. Whereas in a Chamionship game the teams are a mixture of probably 5 to 10 different nations.

    Simple enough Paul:

4 separate Irish goalscorers in one game. My guess is this is the first time ever in the UK. In Ireland it'd be common but not in Ireland it wouldn't. Even in our 4-0 win in Cyprus Keane scored twice. The 4-0 in Liectenstein maybe? I can't recall too many high scoring away wins even against minnows. Any LOI teams get many big away wins in Europe? I recall Rovers beating Fram Reykjavik about 20 years ago but I think it was 3-0 over there.

I can't definitely say if it never happened, but I had a look through the records on irish abroad.
In the last 3 seasons there's only one other game when there were technically 4 goalscorers, although two of them were OG's:
    14 August 2007
    MK Dons 3 - 3 Ipswich
    Scorers: Garvan, Lee(p), Bruce(og), Murphy(og)

there were 4 goals or more scored in these games, all scored by Irish players:
    26 December 2007
    Barnsley 3 - 3 Stoke
    Scorers: Macken (2), Lawrence (3)

    16 September 2008
    Reading 6 - 0 Sheffield Wednesday
    Scorers: Doyle (3), N.Hunt (2)

    6 May 2007
    Luton 0 - 5 Sunderland
    Scorers: Stokes, Murphy (2), Connolly

    9 April 2007
    Preston 2 - 3 Southend United
Scorers: St. Ledger, Maher (2), McCormack

    26 January 2008
    Watford 1 - 4 Wolverhampton Wanderers
    Scorers: O'Toole, Keogh (2), Elliott

    30 August 2008
    Macclesfield 0 - 6 Darlington
    Scorers: Clarke (4)

    27 September 2008
    Reading 4 - 0 Swansea
    Scorers: N.Hunt, Doyle (2), S.Hunt

There's never been more than 5 goals scored by Irish players in one game in that time
