This must be the most open poll yet (read into that what you want). If all us Others formed a coalition we would have ran away with it.

True, but that's been a devolping trend as we came into this decade and I expect it to continue. I'm struggling to think of one year this decade that an album fully caught the zeitgeist in the way an album like Stone Roses or What's The Story did. The Strokes Is This It? probably came closest, and that looks like winning in 2001, but not by the margin the others won by. As it stands I think the winner for this year will come from either the Libertines or QOTSA as a pattern has emerged on these polls whereby an album takes a day or two to shift into gear and pull away from everyone else.
Plus no 'Other' album has won one of these polls yet, and I thought this might be the year, given the omissions of Coldplay and Foo Fighters from the main list
I think around this time, the Pop Star/Pop Stars/X-Factor/Fame Academy winners/rejects were ruling the charts with the same sound on every album, so it was harder for anything remotely unique to get a break.
It took a few years for the backlash to begin, and people started realising there was more to music than what Simon Cowell and Sharon Osbourne decide we should listen to.
Bruce Springsteen - The Rising is a big omission and grabs my vote
Other - Felix Da Housecat - Kittenz And Thee Glitz
Galway United - Connacht Champions 2008
other - Joey Ramone -Don't Worry About Me.
Camell Laird Social Club by Half Man Half Biscuit is also a very fine record.
" I wish to God that someone would be able to block out the voices in my head for five minutes, the voices that scream, over and over again: "Why do they come to me to die?"
Brilliant, I've been saying this for years
As mentioned, music is subjective so who am I to say what should be liked.
My problem is in my experience, most people following perfunctory, generic pop-rock are completely musically close-minded, and dismiss anything different at will.
<insert witty remark>
Gotta include "A Rush of Blood to the Head" from Colplay IMO, head and shoulders above the nominated Albums for 2002. And I wouldn't consider myself a coldplay "fan" by any means but compared to the above, miles apart..
So who won?
Please make it be QOTSA...
'Fascists dress in black and go round telling people what to do, where as priests.....'
Well, I'm no scientist, but it appears that the Libertines and QOTSA tied on 5 each. I don't think there are enough Others to beat that, but I'll leave that to the returning officer, Jebus.

Given the two that tied, I wouldn't object.

Whats the point of having the "other" if its not going to be counted? The format should be changed so we're not just voting on just one persons taste in music... Maybe open a thread for the year to ask for nominations and then vote on those.
Again: who said Other isn't going to be counted? Go back through the thread; check all the people's 'Other' votes, and see if any album got enough votes to beat the five from the main poll. Or, you know, let Jebus do it, if you trust him.
Is it really so difficult to understand?
