I am not that surprised, he has been hit and miss for the past 2 months, mostly miss, Eccles always gives the good players a hard game, so no surprise for me.

The quick fire format of double off, and first to 2 helps level the playing field too for some of the weaker guys. Bet there'll be at least one more shock tonight...

Dennis Priestley..... Great win over Mardle, I don't have anything against Wayne but was rooting for Dennis and was delighted when he pulled it off from 2-0 down. It was an enthralling match, Priestley was 2 legs up in the opening set but Mardle came back and won it and looked like he had the match when he won the second set as well (and with a 144 checkout). It wasn't vintage stuff from Dennis but he managed to claw his way to a deciding set where at 0-1 (or 1-1) he missed with 11 darts to open the scoring before starting the leg on the bull and going on to win the leg and the match. It was great to watch!

Thought the Barney/Lewis game was great to watch too.......both hitting consistently high scores, and Lewis drawing level to the dismay of the "tired looking" Barney ( even though he said he was relaxed after his 2 month break)

Great Matches last night, all went to 3-2, just shows you the quality in darts at the moment, I think that tonights game will not all be 3-2, I expect Osbourne to cause a shock by beating Taylor, he has the game, his form has been really good and I feel he will run him close.

It was a great final, I think it was closer than 6-2 myself, a good few sets with 2-2, Taylor won the important 5th leg a number of times and thats what gave it a easy looking win as it as far from.

I didn't see it myself but I know what you mean. I remember years ago watching Steve Beaton lose 5-0 to Barney in the BDO championships and most people acknowledged that is was a close enough game despite the whitewash. Barney just had the edge in each set.
