    2fm Impersonator Oliver Callan?

I heard him on 2fm a few weeks back and i didn't have a clue who he was trying to impersonate, it's bad enough that he's blatantly ripping off someone else's ideas but he cant do impersonations and most importantly his material is just not funny. IMO

Read about the Spar advert take-off in the Sunday World starring 'Bertie Ahern'. Sounds like something Gift Grub would do and it doesnt sound funny at all. Don't know too much about this guy but which show is it on?

Is this the Nob Nation guy off Gerry Ryan ? if so he's not a patch on the gift grub chap (Mario).

    His Bertie impression is pathetic.

Could Gift Grub not sue them? It sounds exactly the same as what they'd do.

As far as I know both Oliver Callan and Mario Rosenstock worked together on Gifft Grub. They either fell out or, Callan was approached by RTE to move to Dublin 4.

Anyway regardless of the quality of impersonations, Rosenstock's Gift Grub is funnier. The voices doesn't have to be spot on but the content has to be funny and Rosenstock seems to be more entertaining.

They must have fallen out. Their list of characters sounds the exact same as Gift Grub's. I'll have a listen to a few Nob Nation clips but if it's funnier than Gift Grub, I'll eat my cat.

Sure. Let me just check to see if Gift Grub has a patent on topical comedy sketches on the radio...

I meant for ideas, it's just that the characters and ideas are eerily similar.

Of the two, I'm only familiar with Gift Grub, so I can't compare them, but most of the characters are parodies of politicians or other Irish 'celebrities'. There's bound to be a lot of crossover. Do you have a specific example of what you mean?

Im only going by plotlines found on websites, I haven't heard enough of it to make a judgement, but you have to admit the plots do sound very similar to something Gift Grub would dream up. I'll have a listen before I make judgment.

Both Gift Grub and Nob Nation are available on iTunes and I'm subscribed to both. While Gift Grub has it's fair share of duff sketches it's hit rate is much higher then Nob Nation. But there's no need to chose one or the other listen to both

when the gift grub album was released 2 years ago callan claimed that his voice was used with permission and he wasn't being paid for it ( dave fanning and enda kenny i believe )

he brought it to law and left for rte after an offer was made. I don't know what happened to the legal side of things.
Ignore Max Power, he is no more, the future is Ron Burgundy. I'd love to be Ron Burgundy but they won't let me........

Had a listen to some of both sketches on YouTube. Quiet day here, but gave the benefit of the doubt to Nob Nation, it's not bad, but Gift Grub definitely superior. Although not a huge fan of the sketches with Dempsey in them...
