..there may still be hope, if Irish club football is to accommodate a professional structure, as long as there is a major realignment of the European game. This may require the destruction of international boundaries to allow for multinational leagues or clubs to play out of their own national territory in other leagues. In other words, two or three newly created teams (one or two in Dublin, one for Munster), competing either in the Scottish Premiership for example or in a multinational European league, with the existing Eircom league continuing on a largely amateur basis.
