What was Staunton doin? Picking John O'Shea at center back, leaving andy reid out and playing a first division sub in the center mid, robbie keans as captain, stauton doesnt have a clue wat he's doin, get him out, we should be beating Gerogia better than that......Oh trapattoni is in charge now, ah he is a genious, great selection

We can make one mistake in the group. We need to build up the points though, before it happens.

Anyone remember the last time we were bricking it, when going away to the 6th seeds??

I typed this into Google Translator and I still can't figure it out. Who's the first division sub? Whelan? or Douglas?

I know what you're getting at, but the fact is... we won. Our first competitive win in six games, going back eighteen months (home vs. Slovakia). So I'm not complaining. Trap picked what he saw as the best team for his system, it worked and as the players grow in confidence, we'll improve. Bring on Montenegro!

How many competitive games did Staunton win away from Ireland in 5 attempts??

One. The momentous 2-1 win over San Marino that no Irish fan will ever forget.

How many has Trap won after a single attempt??

One. Against a side that effectively knocked out Scotland by beating them in the last campaign.

I think that explains why fans are giving Trap the benefit of the doubt.

I know what you're saying but Stan's selection policies were only one side of the many clueless facets he applied to his management of Ireland.

I worry about Trap's love affair with Miller and to a lesser extent Whelan tbh and think it will cost us in the campaign if it persists for much longer.

Credit has to be given where its due,Trap might have unearthed a really decent player for us in Whelan, he reminds me of Matt Holland or Mark Kinsella, not spectacular but a good player. Hes been good so far and gives me no reason to believe he will cost us
    Its really not that complicated!!!

I suspect this may be right - the worry however is that Kinsella and Holland were both genuine high performers for their teams in the top division - & Whelan can't get on the pitch. That does not bode well.

In fairness, Stoke have only played 3 games. If he still hasn't played after 8 games then we'll see.

I was at that match and your right, it was a disaster, unforgetable. The team didnt even come out for a warm down cause they new the fans were waiting in the sadium to give stan stick.

Dont get me wrong, im goina give trap time to make his mark, Im just think that stauton was slated for some poor selections but trap has been praised for similar selection.

Far as I know Stoke have played four games this season and he has started two, one in the cup (in which Whelan scored). He started the first Prem game against Bolton. Perhaps he is a bit of a scapegoat round there for a genuinely shyte team performance that day
