I had a look at the current league table there, looks like ncw are walking away with it already, the standard in that league has dropped a lot over the last few years, taking nothing away from the oscer trainor sucess last last season

I agree totally, fantastic achievement in winnin the oscar traynor and well done to everyone involved but ive seen a few games in the desmond league and generally the standard aint upto much. NCW have a decent side though!!

Yea NCW would have to be the pick of the league at the minute, not sure if Glin, Rathkeale or Abbey can put it up to them this year, 5 wins out of 5 at the minute for NCW, good start

    Foot.ie!

anybody have any views on how desmond clubs are faring out so far this season?? premier division looks all over, dont think glin or anyone else can catch newcastlewest.a lot of very poor teams in that division, carrig, kileaney, old mill even broadford struggling this term-can be tough teams to play on their day and all have few players alright but not much football played by any of them to be fair.shannonside, askeaton and maybe ita's would make premier far more competitive.

think they would come anywhere from 3rd to 6th dont think they would challenge for the league. my view of this side is that they would be similar to kilmallock in set up , great under age sides but not top quality at junior level. potentially they are very strong but the standard in desmond league is not strong enough for them to ever realistacally win a munster junior or fai, a move to city league or munster senior league would really fufill this clubs potential
if it wasnt for birds and booze id have played for ireland juniors!!!!!

    .

there was talks of us going into the city league but we wud have to start in the lower divisons in there..we play city teams every year in friendlies...we drew with regional 1-1 with 2 teams with full teams...i honestly think we wud finish in top 3...we wud give it a good go of the league..were always missing players every weekend and no players in the league seem interested in joining ncw afc...dunno why cos we win everything domesticly every year..the desmond league is a bad enough league..good players here tho but they aint really interested as our players and 1 or 2 teams in the league..

the reason no one will go to ncw afc is because players dnt get a chance there the team picks its self.sum players have been well good enough to play with them and never were asked the guy that played for feenagh who got player of the year two years running and them two years got 45 goals i think his name was ray massey i think.......and there is many others dwn the divisions that are well good enough to play there but know they wnt get there chance

    .

ray massey is a good player but will he be able to handle it in the premier division? played against him in a friendly and didnt look good that day..if wants to play with big boys like ncw afc or rathkeale or glin then he shud sign for them.players wil always get a chance a ncw afc, they have to prove themselves like every other player

Glin won 2-0. Good match & a just about deserved victory I thought, both goals within 5 mins in the second half.

Click below for a few pics from the game
