    Targets...

A couple of weeks back i listed a few players City should Target for next season.I named my main target as Robbie Doyle.I would love to name the people who replied to me that said "oh RedX you are so wrong, but here is MY OPINION".I was just giving my opinion on players i think we could do with.Well some of you know alls must have been biting your lips the other night when Robbie Doyle destroyed us.Maybe one or two of my doubters could apoligise now instead of jumping down my throat,eh Peader?.I have supported City and L.O.I football since City formed and i have watched many players up and down the country and i know i am right on this lad.I am not doubting some of the other posters on this board are right about there targets too.But in future just because someone does not agree with me(also a CITY fan)dont jump down my throat.I have found that some guys on here do not have a clue about City,Football or the eircom league. And i am beginning to think some of the visiting Dub fans that post here are right too.We really can be such a bunch of bloo*dy whingers. We have a nice ground,v good manager and the makings of a v good team but what do we do?Moan moan moan...

Just on Robbie Doyle. I doubt he'd sign for Dolan again, having been released by him before...

He is a very good player, looked nackered towards the end. He beat the off-side trap well and got a nice goal to.

Welcome back RedX - how did the holiday go?

Good to have someone else talking up the Club for a change again.
Agree with you re Doyle - he played well.

IMO I think the guy to get ( not that Bohs would ever leave him go ) would be Hunt. He is by far the best midfielder in the country.

And I have to say although Crowe was quite last Friday he did a number of things really well like holding up the ball and his header on for the second goal was class.

Enough of the Bohs $hite however, I can't wait to see Kearney and Flynny play together. Should be a great combination.

The team is coming together - think of the following pices of the jigsaw:

    - Devine
    - Murray
    - Coughlan
    - Doyle
    - George
    - Colin T
    - Flynny
    - Kearney

I think any of those would make it onto any LoI team.

Bit more depth and we're there.

    CC...

Hey CC.....hols went very well.Surprisingly weather was not the best but it does not rain in the pubs. Will fill you in at the next game.

Regarding Hunt he is without doubt the best and most consistent central midfielder in the country.Do you think it would ever be possible to lure him away from Bohs?I am not sure really.I am looking forward to the close season for once this year. The reason being i now think that Dolan will know who he wants and who he does not want and i think he will bid for a couple of the better players in the league.Hunt?..just maybe, who knows?

coughlan, colin t and kearney?? come on now .. earth to CC here like

kearney's only played 1 game for us..bit early doors to judge.. actually he reminded me a lot of the old tony tynan (tony who.. u might ask..where is he now eh?) in that kearney while having lots of skill, ability to beat players trickery etc is v light, got knocked off the ball a few times just like tynan was..
be interesting to see how a player like that does in the summer soccer months of rain swept sept / oct / nov

I think at the moment that ye're greatest problems lie in the middle of the field. Bohs slaughtered ye there the other night, and even on paper ye don't look intimidating there. Ye badly need to get a player in the mould of Hunt, and someone with real pace out wide to supply quality ball. Don't mean to offend anyone here, but Greg O'Halloran is not a top class footballer; dedicated and committed yes, but quality, no. Ryan Casey is worse, he even lacks the dedication and commitment.
If and when ye fill these voids, get J O' Flynn and Georgie clicking again, then ye'll be a danger to all. Nice platform though, and Dolan and O'Connor seem to be working well together.
Get the chequebook out wisely, then ye will do the biz!!

Robbie Doyle is more style than substance. Hes young so will improve but he always looks better than he really is.

btw whats the point in suggesting players we will not get? Why would Doyle leave Bohs for City at the end of this season? Hows about some realistic suggestions...

Curts, if you're talking about Alan Cawley,I'd agree but I think we'd need maybe another midielder as well though in the, dare I say it, Ratnolds mould (purely playing mould obviously) and then we would approaching having necessary depth for the middle with Greg and perhaps one or two of the u21's coming through.
I wonder would either Clifford from Waterford or Kirby from Longford be in Pat's thoughts as end of season targets. Does anyone know how Kirby played last night?

I think Connor could & should be released at the end of the season, not sure what his contract situation is but he really hasn't done enough in the last 2 seasons to justify keeping him on and I would prefer to see his full time contract go to either of the 2 new midfielders mentioned above.

    Foot.ie! pete...

I disagree...Why would Pat Dolan come to Cork City FC?.Last year we would not have beleived he would come down here to manage our club.If ambition is shown by City there is always a chance that we could sign the best players in the league.Maybe not Robbie Doyle or Kevin Hunt but you never know.In fairness City are well capable of signing the best.If you were running the club though, looks like we would have to settle for more realistic targets. You mean 2nd best. Please dont mention this to Pat Dolan if you ever bump into him...
