Definitely didn't. Peter Eccles and Barry Murphy got caps in the early days. Neville didn't
Chap in work asked me this, it was given as an answer to a quiz question about players Jack Charlton capped for Ireland, making up the letters of his surname (eg. Cascarino, Houghton, Aldridge etc) Anyhow, the answer for N was given as Mick Neville. I said I'm 99% certain that Mick Neville never got a full international cap. I know he capped a couple of LOI players early on but I'm almost sure Neville wasn't one. Anyone know any different ?
Out for a spell, got neglected, lay on the bench unselected.

Must be referring to the olympic appearances that he got. Wouldn't have been Charlton though.
Nobody whose surname begins with N was capped for Ireland under Jack Charlton.
Liam O'Brien was also capped by Charlton I think?
This is the toughest question I ever got from the Charlton era?
Name the starting 11 in the 1994 World Cup match against Italy. Stumps most people and try not to use wiki or any other reference site. Just use your memory

Don't follow Skyreland but from memory it was something like:
Bonner, Phelan, Irwin, Babb, McGrath, Houghton, Keane, Townsend, Staunton, Aldridge, Coyne? (Just checked and out I'm by one; clue - formation was 4-5-1 and the missing player is named in this post, sort of.)
A leading authority on League of Ireland football since 2003. You're probably wrong.
Pat Byrne was capped by Charlton while with Shams IIRC.

Sheridan, the one you missed was your namesake, John. He hit the bar in the second half.

He clipped the top of the bar against Norway alright. He smacked it against Italy, if memory serves me correctly
Smacked the bar against Italy frim a nice cut back, lobbed the ball against Norway to sit on top of the net, looked like it was on the way in just to go over the bar....pity bout butterfinger Bonner in the next round![]()
