Were there any independent observers at the coin toss (if there was a coin toss)?

If so, did the coin have two different faces?

Seems to reinforce the posts earlier in the week from Wexford fans who were "promised" the final if they got through....

Saturday game should bring 500+ City fans down. Interested to see how they cope.

Waterford were "promised" a spot in the new league last year too; didn't work out (until Shels went belly up). There's no conspiracy; you've had two of four finals at home and away, so it's just averages for you.

Best of luck to Wexford with it. Could be a massive boost for the club.

We're talking about an organisation that appointed an international manager based on one of the decision panel voting against a better qualified candidate because he thought he threw a cream bun at him on an away trip.

I just think its suspicious that a poster came on here earlier in the week and said they had been promised a home final.

I'm sure it was all above board though...

The temporary stand has about 900 uncovered seats I think.
They'll have to setup at least another stand to stage it...

Some very ungracious comments here and I would doubt many have been to Ferrycarrig Park because all visitors are made very welcome.

Firstly. we weren't 'promised' the final. At Turners Cross on Monday, before kick off, we heard that CORK were promised the final. Under those circumstances, we felt as if the honour should pass to us. However, it was never substantiated so a toss was the fair thing.

Last year, we hired a 1,000 seat uncovered temporary stand for the majority of the season. This year Mick bought a 607 covered temporary stand and put it on the far side of the pitch to allow for construction of our new permanent stand. Regrettably, planning issues have delayed that. Bottom line is that the area surrounding the pitch has the appropriate hardstanding and can be fitted with approx 2,500 seats for the game (in my estimation).

Our pitch is one of the finest in the league. I would ask anyone who has seen it to deny that. Derry City will enjoy playing on it

Our clubhouse, training facilities and changing rooms are of the highest order

I don't speak for the club but I would have no doubt that the Directors of Wexford Youths FC and it's supporters will spend all effort and money to ensure this is a showcase final

All the best to Wexford boys......a good geographical spread is essential for the league.

Why dont both teams go half way and play it in Athlone or Longford, job done and would be easier on everyone involved.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Good decision imo. Nice to promote football in the south east. Wallace has done an incredible job there.

Bohs were promised the home advantage of the League Cup Final last year - as Setanta rated it's TV Broadcast facilities and Camera Positions as the best in the League

    But looksy what actually happened...

Good luck Wexford - a superb chance to promote football in the South East to a wider audience - plus Mick Wallace gets to hold court

Is it any wonder the nordies lost the toss , there is no "faces" or "heads" on the euro coins.

Well in the Setanta last season, at the semi final stage, Cork and Linfield were told whoever won their match had the final, no coin toss, no consideration for Drogs or Pats, blatant favouritism.
You know what - we still won it. How many league cup finals have been in the Brandywell recently? Get over it.

Fair play to Wexford youths. I saw a Wallace construction jeep in Dublin today, it had a football on the side and something about Wexford Youths around the ball. Well done Mick Wallace. If only there were more of you in the league then we wouldn't be in such trouble. They deserve the final.
Hunky Dorys Park - could be worse, we could be going to Old Trafford every other week

All finals really should be at a neutral venue IMO.

No club in ireland not even the amazing Shamrocks with their amazing stadium come close to what Wexford have, a complete and proper footballing set up. All it lacks is access from the motorway and then they can build stands. For a club only a few years in existence i wish Pats had that setup, it is the perfect footballing setup.

Football clubs are more than just a stand.

Stewards are easily the best i have seen in the league.

Football needs the final to be in Wexford already a buzz around the game.

No one ever claimed we where promised final but told that winners of Mondays game had home advantage presuming it would be Cork.

The plans are already being put in place to facilitate the final. A temporary stand will be out in place, extra stewards brought in etc.

We will be more than capable of holding the final their are plenty of people who are willing to help this work and offers from local people and businesses.

Our pitch is one of the best in the league even at the Pat's game the pitch did not cut up. Also will get a good break after our home game next Friday no game until Cup Final.

Thanks to those who are giving us their support.

Well if we go by your sig Rovers1 we are the second biggest footballing side in Ireland!

There's no problem (space wise) in putting temporary seating down along both touchlines. Doing this could give around 2700 seats. Behind both goals is a bit different as there's not as much room due to the peremiter fence and what lies behind it - astroturf pitches at one end and our clubhouse + nearly constructed gym at the other. If we get rid of the fence something could be installed alright and this would make for a nice little temporary ground. Even if nothing is done behind the goals they'll accomdate for at least 300 standing people. So yeah, I reckon an attendance of about 3000. 2700 seats and the rest standing.

Parking will be mental. There's only room for maybe 250 cars. The clubhouse will be mental if it's open to everyone like usual, which I suspect it might not be. Dressing rooms are first class. Playing surface is excellent. Should be a good evening.

God help the poor women and barmen of Wexford though. An awful hard accent to understand. And then there's the Derry lads too!
