Dalymount is publicly owned now, so sport capital money would not be going to the FAI. Tesco may be more of a delay in this case.
It won't cost a penny, as the public purse won't have to put any money in.

The notional land value of a publicly-owned housing estate is a different matter, and in many ways is irrelevant - unless the council intends to monetise/realise the 'value' of that site at some point. And even if they did, they'd have to spend the income replacing the units lost.

In short - this is the council turning down what at first glance appears to be a good deal from a number of angles.

It seems odd that the DCC are refusing to play ball on this when the site is a lot more suited to having a stadium and the other amenities than the current ground and most of the other potential sites pats could move to in the area. I know you can say the council handing over the plot doesn't make sense for them but they're also getting a lot of community facilities built for them which goes some way to negating that.

They seem to be panicking because of the housing crisis and just throwing down houses forgetting that the lack of stuff to do in the area is part of the reason St.Michaels estate failed last time they tried it.

Yeah. But surely someone else throwing down houses for them would be a win-win, and leave them free to focus their resources and effort on additional new housing units elsewhere ?

Any talk about the new stand in the Brandywell being extended to the original drawings? Seems to be near a sellout every week up there.

Ross tweeted his picture among the 40 or so UCD fans in the Des Kelly last night,Also made the point that he paid in ( good value according to himself). Hopefully he had a good look around at the crumbling facilities.

Won't happen without a Stormont in place. And even then there's np guarantee it would either.

The crowds have been great so far this season. The place is pretty much full for every game.

I'd applaud that reply if it hadn't taken you 2 days to come up with

On a personal level I admire perth for speaking the truth
(I said that through gritted teeth) but he has a responsibility to dfc and having a pop at the minister for sport is not a good idea.

Whoever owns the shopping centre owns the whole terrace behind the goal up to just before the big opening in the corner.

It used to be weeded every so often but hasn't been done in a while by the looks of it.
