Quite pleased with myself on this one. Paddy power were giving 6 to 1 on Cabo to beat bray today which they duly did 2 to 1.
Any long odds bets in the lsc are good value as no one could have a clue what the second 11s or 19s of either team will do.

UCD v Crumlin is on 27th August - six months after the rest of the round.

I know Bohs, Cabo, Pat's and Athlone are through to the quarters. Any results from the other three games?

This year's tournament is an even bigger farce than usual; well done to the LFA on that fine achievement.

Rumours in Wexford that North End and Longford is to be fixed for some date in August. Not sure which year though.

    Rovers 19s to be fair.
I would rather we had cancelled the game given Europe involvement and played them with a semi full team later, big game for them and playing the 19s kinda spoils it for them.
When u consider 75% of the league matches are over there would be plenty of oppurtunities

I'm pretty sure they will be saying they beat Shamrock Rovers not SRFC U19s and who knows who they might draw in the next round that they can look forward to playing.

UCD v Crumlin postponed as we're playing Dundalk twice next week instead.

I don't remember this ever being quite so shambolic before?

Its always been shambolic. Think one year the final wasn’t played until the following season. Winter /summer Leagues added another layer of chaos to the mix.
Not sure it has any future, maybe as an U19 competition ?

This year's round of 16 games are unplayed over a year after the preliminary round though.

It has nothing to add tbh, and agree it should be scrapped.

doubt there will be little interest in our game considering we are playing in Ferrycarrig 3 days later! very late to have a tie for this competition considering the league season is nearly finished. Its a sham!

I'm just going on this thread. Littlebray is the best source of info on the LSC it seems!

Though it's not quite a year; he has the first game as 24th August last year. It's possible a preliminary round draw for 2019/20 has already been made.

This season has been a fairly spectacular b-up, not just with first games last September and still not into the QFs, but first 4th Round matches last February, and the Round still not finished. At least there are now dates for the remaining matches.
For the record, since its establishment in 1892/3, the competition has been highly variable.
In the 1910s, it was making a 'home' for itself on St Patricks Day, playing the final that day six times (and once more during the Patricks Day weekend: Sunday was a no-no).
But the FAI wanted that date for its blue riband national Cup, and from 1921, the first decade of the new regime saw LSC Finals in April.
Then clearly a decision was made to make it a Stephens Day showpiece (Munster Finals were also aimed at that date for periods).
From 1930/31 until 1976/7, only three Boxing Days failed to feature the LSC Final: 1945/6 (16 Jan), 1966/7 (27 Dec) and 1971/2 (26 Jan).
Occasionally draws made a serious dent in the schedule: in 1957/8 the Final was not replayed until 5 February, and in 1974/5 it was even later, on 20 March.
But from the late 1970s on, it was again highly variable. Dates in early December, in January and even in April featured - though it returned to Stephens Day for a couple of years as the two-division League commenced.
The 1988/9 Final, drawn 1-1 between Bohemians and Bray on St Stephens Day 1988, wasn't replayed until 7 August 1989 - the day after the first round matches for the next season! (Bohs won 1-0.)
Since the 10-year gap, the LSC has failed to command a reliable programme of dates, which argues that the LFA has failed to talk to the FAI.
The worst schedule until this year was when the first games in the First Round were played on 8 & 9 September 2016, and the Final more than a year later, on 4 October 2017 (There was a Preliminary Round match, but I don't have a date for it).
When this year's Final will be played is highly debatable.
Details to date here (still missing one or two ...)
