Scored a fine free kick against us last night. Why didnt his supposed move to Fingal go through before he signed for Bray?
Manager: Fergal, have you your boots with ya?
Fergal: Ya, I have them here.
Manager: Ah good stuff, well give them to this man so, he forgot his!

He quit the club, wasn't released. Has since signed for a local junior side.
Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.

Its all but rosey at Oriel OS,seemingly the club needs to cut back the playing budget for next season which could mean that other clubs could cherry pick our best players.
There is a fairly good debate on this issue going on atm on our forum with good points being made from both sides.
Hopefuly we can get another 6/7 of this years squad signed up for 2011,and with a few additions we should be pushing to improve our position in the leauge once again(we have beaten last years points position with 4 games left to play) To achieve this we need to at least double the ammount of members in our trust.

This is just pure speculation primarily based on an article in local paper Dundalk Democrat which quotes Ian Foster:

While Foster has achieved his short-term target of "building a new squad to strongly compete in the Premier Division", he admits that his long term aim of making Dundalk a major force in Irish football could be in jeopardy if the club reduce the playing budget for next season.
This follows on from the club chairman telling it as it is in last weeks programme:

Club chairman Padraig McGowan suggested that would be the case in his programme notes for the Galway United game on Friday night, saying that the club's "financial situation remains very challenging."

He went on to say that that club "face an uphill task to maintain our current playing budget for next season. Things are very tight financially for everyone at the moment but if we as supporters wish to maintain a competitive top flight club, then we all need to do a bit more".
Any seasoned vetern of battles over team budgets will recognise the normal shadow boxing. Talk of reduced budget at Dundalk is premature.

What is fairly certain is that the club wouldn't spend money they don't believe is sustainable

    Foster quotes on DundalkFC.com today:
the budget hadn’t been finalised; it was finalised last night and I only got word for it this morning. So, we hope now that things will get done a little bit quicker.”
He knows what the budget is but Joe supporter(the most important link in the chain) is still in the dark.

I am not aware of any club which declares its playing budget publically.

Maybe this would be interesting and informative generally, but I don't envisage any club publishing reliable figures on their website anytime soon.

As regards supporters being kept in the dark - if you were reading the thread you mentioned earlier on Oriel Web you may have noticed that the club have plans to make more financial information for supporters

Work has been on-going for some considerable time on fine-tuning the anticipated financial performance of the club to the financial year-end on 30 November, and more importantly on the overall projected club budget for 2011.

More detailed information will be made available to supporters in the near future so that all concerned can get a more detailed understanding of the financial position of the club, and how all stakeholders can play a part in building the club.

    No need to guess

I'm on the side of transparency and of spending within your means.

Is there any other sustainable side?

Maybe you will be transparent on OW and answer some of the questions that have been asked of you there instead of sidetracking and towing the party line here with me.

Depends on whether other clubs are in a position to maintain their budgets. Bohs will certainly be reducing their budget, perhaps Rovers and Fingal too. I think the general trend will probably be towards lower wage demands and that might benefit the likes of Dundalk/Pat's/Sligo etc.

bulit - I certainly have not sidetracked anything here. I simply challenged your suggestion -

Regardless of budget, always a good sign to see a club having it set and allowing the manager to sign payers for next season already. Can do nothing but create stability and confidence.
