No, the associations in each gruop usually decide between themselves who the host is

Sweden just gone 2-1 up on Scotland!

It appears not, although that would have made a lot of sense - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_U...ication#Format

Elite round: The 28 teams are drawn into seven groups of four teams. Each group is played in single round-robin format at one of the teams selected as hosts after the draw. The seven group winners qualify for the final tournament.

2-2 with a couple of minutes remaining. We're safe enough anyway as Croatia are 1-0 up on Czech Rep near half time.

We can always count on the Scots. Finished 2-2 so we are confirmed as top seeds.

    Final standings: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_U...on#Elite_round
Draw on Thursday fortnight - the 6th.
We can't draw the Netherlands, having played them in the Qualifying Round

I'd take Hungary, Azerbaijan, and Cyprus
Worst case scenario is Serbia/Russia/Czech Republic, England/Turkey, and Belgium/Croatia
An improving Scotland in Pot 2 as well

Interesting that there's a few teams that were in the same groups in Pot 3 - England & Turkey from Group 5 and Ukraine & Norway from Group 8 - this doesn't give them any advantage since two teams from the same group can't be drawn together, and two teams in the same pot can't be drawn together either

Draw completed, Ireland facing Russia, Azerbaijan and Romania - with Russia hosting. Not the worst draw, considering some of the other groups

Fixtures to take place in March - Romania on the 20th, Azerbaijan on the 23rd and the probable group decider against Russie on the 26th: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_U...tion#Group_1_2

That's a great group, only limited by the fact we've to go to Russia. We've missed the English and the Belgians and the Serbs.

Hopefully we're looking at a place in the finals now.

Groups 3,5,6 are bad, but 7 is an absolute stinker. An absolute stinker.

In a way it's a pity UEFA limit the scope of the Underage competitions, yet have all and sundry qualify for the Seniors....surely it should be the other way around???

Don't know how true this is but someone was saying that they were talking to a relative of Ryan Cassidy and he hasn't be called up to the U19 squad.

I would have thought that Watfords involvement in the FA Youth Cup would have excluded him. Similiar has happened with other Irish players down the years.

Ireland U19: Squad confirmed for Elite Round qualifiers
The Republic of Ireland Under-19s are faced with the task of topping Group 1 if they are to qualify for the 2019 UEFA European Under-19 Championships in Armenia.
    16th Mar 2019
Awaiting Tom Mohan's squad, who are top seeds in this Elite Round, are Azerbaijan, Romania, and Russia, with the latter acting as hosts for these three games in Krasnodar.

Mohan has handed first call-ups to Sligo Rovers' Niall Morahan, Arsenal's Mark McGuinness, Bolton Wanderers' Luca Connell, Derby County's Festy Ebosele, and Aston Villa's Tyriek Wright (pictured above), while Stoke City defender Nathan Collins is ruled out due to injury.

The quartet of Lee O'Connor, Conor Coventry, Troy Parrott and Adam Idah have been promoted to the Under-21 squad.

"As a group of players and staff, we are really looking forward to represent our country at the Elite Round in Krasnodar. This will be our first time to be involved in a UEFA tournament in Russia and our squad are really looking forward to training at the very impressive Krasnodar Academy," said Mohan.

"I expect all three games will be very tough against very strong opponents who have all performed really well to qualify from their respective groups. From our own perspective, we were delighted to have qualified for the Elite Round and we aim to build on the positives from our team's performances in the Qualifying Round.

"This Elite Round tournament will be of great benefit to the development of our players as they will experience playing in high intensity competitive games against quality opponents with all teams competing strongly to top the group and qualify for the finals. Our players will also experience a different culture which is also very important from an educational point of view and one that we are going to embrace."

The seven group winners in the Elite Round will qualify to join hosts Armenia in the finals, which will be played from July 14-27.

Ireland last qualified for the Under-19 finals tournament in 2011 - when they reached the semi-finals - while they won the competition outright in 1998 after overcoming Germany in a dramatic penalty shoot-out.

    Republic of Ireland Under-19 Squad
Goalkeepers: Brian Maher (St Patrick's Athletic), George McMahon (Burnley)
Defenders: Andy Lyons (Bohemians), Tom Gaston (Bordeaux), Mark McGuinness (Arsenal), Oisin McEntee (Newcastle United), Jack James (Luton Town), Kameron Ledwidge (Southampton)
Midfielders: Niall Morahan (Sligo Rovers), Aaron Bolger (Shamrock Rovers), Jason Knight (Derby County), Luca Connell (Bolton Wanderers), Will Smallbone (Southampton), Conor Grant (Sheffield Wednesday), Richie O'Farrell (UCD)
Forwards: Ali Reghba (Bohemians), Will Ferry (Southampton), Festy Ebosele (Derby County), Tyriek Wright (Aston Villa), Jonathan Afolabi (Southampton)

2019 UEFA European Under-19 Championship - Elite Round Qualifiers

Can't believe mcauley isn't in that squad with all the absentees. Connell in is a positive. Nice to see smallbone as well who seems to be going well at 23 level but hasn't been involved for us much lately. Also nice to see McGuinness back again it's been a long time since he played for us. Had hoped oko flex might have been called in

Has Mcauley done something to offend the FAI underage management?
    Omitted from all squads
