Multiple news sources, including the BBC, now reporting this as a done deal, subject to a negative Covid test.

Bournemouth will have a 24 hour recall option as he is still their number 2 keeper.

Sounds like a great deal for Travers, assuming he's number one. He'll get his game there and if he's called back then he'll get his game at Bournemouth.

Yes it sounds good for him. There won't be much competition for him at Swindon, their only other senior keeper seems to be very much a journeyman/backup type that has been around the league without much success.

    Just a point of note.
If I was the manager of Swindon or any club on planet earth, I would never ever agree to a "24 hour notice" to call back a player.

Yeah, it's a funny one. I would think that Travers would have more than one offer on the table in League One and maybe this was the proviso included that ensured Travers didn't go elsewhere.

I only realised there that there is an Irish connection at Swindon with Lee Power, Waterford United owner, the chairman and owner and John Sheridan managing.

They’re more common than you’d think but rarely ever used. Generally there’s a serious financial penalty if the player is recalled built into the contract. Like lets imagine Swindon pay his wages and there’s a signing fee of 50k on top. Contract may include a clause saying the player can be recalled but Bournemouth will have to reimburse all of the wages paid to date and the 50k fee and a a further 25k penalty to facilitate Swindon finding a replacement.

You can always sign a keeper on an emergency loan if necessary, so there’s never a risk they’ll be left without a keeper if he’s recalled.

Clubs often sign deals where if a player isn’t playing X mins or X games, he can be recalled early without fee. Or often, there’s a large loan fee with the lending club covering all or most of the wages and if the player gets enough game time, the loan fee is waived, basically to incentivise the young player getting enough football.

Ben Woodburn famously cost Sheffield United an arm and a leg for his loan a few years back...

I think this is how Troy Parrott's loan was set up and why Spurs feel they can recall him in January if they want to.

The only down side to this for Travers is that, if Bournemouth need him for a week or two after the window closes, he could be recalled for just one of two games and then not be able to go back to Swindon and be stuck on the bench again for the rest of the season.

Solid enough debut from Travers in a good win for Swindon. Beaten twice from close range but not to blame for either and made a very good save from Alan Judge in the first half.

Swindon up 2-0 away to Charlton at present. I see that they move up 5 spots in the league table should all results remain the same. Only 3 points separating Shrewsbury in 17th and Wigan in 23rd.

A clean sheet would be nice for Swindon with Masterson and Travers playing.

Edit: Goal conceded but no fault of Travers or Masterson. Charlton striker unmarked at the back post.

Has ended 2-2. For Charlton's equalizer, Masterson thought he had played the goalscorer offside but the linesman didn't agree and the goal stood.

John Sheridan is clearly a risk taker when it comes to keepers - no sub goalie on the bench to cover Travers today.

Early reports from his loan spell seem positive.

Travers recalled by Bournemouth. Swindon say in a press release that it's because of an injury to Begovic but no mention of that at the Bournemouth end.

Either way, it will be a real shame if this means he only plays one or two more games at Bournemouth for the rest of the season, he was getting a great run in the team and by all accounts playing well, even though Swindon themselves are struggling.

Swindon have been playing with no keeper on the bench so this will cause them a huge issue. Will probably apply for an emergency loan now. Max O'Leary maybe, or Kelleher?!

Lunacy for swindon to agree to a 24 hour call back! Just pure stupidity!

This is kind of disappointing alright. I've done a few searches online and can't really substantiate the nature or extent of Begovic and his injury. If Begovic recovers and retains the number one spot then Travers is either stuck there as number two or on the lookout for another loan. Or maybe he rips the starting spot from Begovic- that would be a great outcome.

It feels like Begovic has been around forever. Yet somehow he is only 33. He could have another five years in him yet!

My god I thought he was that and more when we played him in 2015
