In theory - but not in practise.

There is only one flight from Knock to Edinburgh a day, and it's at 5:10pm on a Saturday. So they'd need to fly over the day before and stay overnight.

The problem with coming back is that there is only one flight from Scotland to Knock as well - and it leaves on Saturday morning. So to get back from a Peterhead fixture via Knock, they'd have to fly on the Sunday and spend a second night in accommodation.

So it's not just the journey time involved in getting from Sligo to Knock and from Edinburgh to Peterhead, it's the fact that it needs to be a 48hr trip with 2 night accommodation thrown in. That would be a big expense for Sligo, so they've dodged a serious bullet in this round

Would have assumed they would at least stay the night before in any case.

Would probably be an even worse option in fairness, because it would still involve a 48hr trip from Friday to Sunday, and also need 4 flights, and c. 4hrs dead time in transfer on two days.

The killer is that there is only one flight a day out of Knock to Edinburgh, Birmingham and Manchester, and the times of those flights don't suit getting to and from a 3pm Saturday match in the north-east of Scotland without it being a 48hr round trip.

It's all well and good chatting about flights, but the mode of transport will likely come down to cost.
Assuming it does, it'd be bus and ferry.

I know the distance isn't as much, but Derry took that option when we played Gretna in Motherwell.

If Bohs go for that, you'd be looking at a 10 hour journey. Not great, but at least it's broken up with a while on the ferry, which presumably has a gym.

There's the added advantage of being able to leave straight after the match and travel overnight, saving one an extra hotel night.

Moot point really, but I'm not sure why Sligo would restrcict consideration to a tiny regional airport that's an hour away instead of a huge international airport with 200 times as many flights that's 2-2.5 hours away. Bohs are about 5km away from the same airport. Aer Lingus alone have 2 flights a day each way to Aberdeen.

Brendy if the ferry has a gym it's been seriously upgraded since I last took a ferry trip!

It's a reference to a discussion I had on here with a Sligo fan a page or 2 back, who took affront at the assertion that Knock wasn't a great option to travel from for games in Scotland.

I'm no physio, but I would've thought the last thing you'd want players to do on their way to a fixture is to mess around in a gym ? Particularly a random one on a boat.

    Sligo Rovers v Livingston U20s

League Two opposition away for Bohs and U20s opponents at home for Sligo on Saturday. Are Bohs and Sligo likely to be fielding full strength teams in this competition?

Hard to know for definite but I’d expect Long to put out a side who can win the game.

With the Cup game V Derry postponed I suspect we may have a decent team out but it still remains very low on our priorities so Long may give a few young lads a run out.

Club policy; We don't win at home.

Sounds a bit underwhelming all the same, even if it's the LoI's first ever win in the competition.

    Many go over to it?
