England v Ireland footage 1992 Qualifiers

Anyone out there got the 1-1 match against England at Wembley from the qualifiers for the 1992 European Championships?

I was at the match and recently watched the Charlton Years DVD where it was described as one of the best Irish performances. I recall the goals and the lad behind me with the bodhran but the memory is hazy on the overall match itself.

    Cheers for any help

I think I have nearly every Irish game on video over the past 20 years or more (other than the very recent ones) so I probably have that one as well. Many are on betamax but that one should be on VHS. Is that the one where Ray H missed an opener in the last minute when through on goal?
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

Yes - don't remind me. I think there were about 8 minutes left.

The England goal was a Stan Staunton OG - although I think Dixon claimed it.

Definitely an OG, came off his leg and left Bonner flat footed. Reckon he had it covered otherwise.

isn't the rule that if the original shot is on target then a deflection doesn't countas an OG?

If anyone has the footage could they please put it on youtube/rapidshare?

It was the preverbial "wicked" deflection. Completely altered the balls flight path.

Those were the days when Moran played with a bandaged skull, Wright played with a cast on his wrist and Stan was a hero.
Worm, did you not upload this game as a torrent? or was it the Charlton years? I seem to remember a torrent thread sometime. I downloaded this game from a torrent site.

I have the 50 minute rte highlight version 372mb file

I cut this from The Charlton Years. Would you consider uploading your highlights to Megaupload? I've never had a torrent of this match before either

I'm uploading it now to Rapid Share, a road already well travelled.
No time to figure out mega....

I'll post the rapid share links here when I'm finished uploading.

Remember walking up Wembley High Street protecting my little sister from the flying bottles and pint glasses.

    Ah the memories.

Remember the BBC post match analysis, you couldnt hear them with the noise of 'you'll never beat the Irish'.

We should have hammered the ****ers that night and gone on and won Euro92.

I saw the match at home (tickets were like golddust) and - for anyone who hasn't seen it - we played England off the pitch and completely outsang the English in the stands. You could clearly hear loads of Irish songs being sung (We're on the One Road reverberating around Wembley stadium - it doesn't get much better than that!) I reckon we outnumbered their fans by at least three to one - it was like a big Irish party going on off the pitch!!

England scored a fluke of a goal - a nothing shot from Dixon that went in off Staunton's leg and from then on it was all Ireland. Quinn's goal was class - he feigned to blast it at Seaman and just deflected it past him; a really good goal. How that match finished 1-1 I still do not know!!
