    Mervue United 0-1 Athlone Town

So, what was the verdict from the Mervue fans?
We could and should have scored at least 3. Ref bottled out of giving the
2nd peno even though it looked more clear cut than the 1st.

For Mervue, Nigel Keady really stood out as a level above most of his team
mates. Having said that though there were a few nrrvous moment when
    Mervue attacked down the wing.

We still have a lot of things to improve on

Yep, was €2 for a 6 page programme (I think). 2 pages of adverts, 2 of fixtures.

Eric unattached at the moment but he was in the crowd. Word is that he
contacted both Mervue & Longford about joining up but neither were interested

Don't think there is many of them here to comment, but maybe a GUFC fan who was at the game could!

I thought Mervue looked ok at the back, Keady (number 2) was solid when moved to centre half, it was between him and the keeper for their best player, he saved the pen as well as a few more good athlone chances, and cleaned up plenty crosses/corners. he also set them off a few times in the last 20 with some quick throws. A wee bit dodgy on the backpasses tho! 13 played well when he came on, bit of a flyer and was getting forward from left back.
they just didnt seem to have much in the last 1/3, though their long ball tactic didnt help, with just one up front. I don't think they will suffer many hammerings with the backline they have, and maybe after 4 or 5 games things will click up front.
very good crowd for the game, wonder will it continue. I'll be going back for a few games anyway
Havin a weekend away is quite frankly, lettin ur team mates down!

In a crazy way id love to see Levine playing for the Town again, but what is he now? 38?
I just sit down at the typewriter & start hittin the keys, just hittin the keys. Getting them in the right order though thats the trick, thats the trick.

Well as far as I'm aware when he was released by Longford he was always on about wanting to come back!!! Too old now for us to be taking him back. Anyone over 36 won't make it with Longford!!!
