Risteard is right in fairness - you didn't misquote the article, but you did misrepresent it.

"At least a few yards forward" as opposed to a "few yards away" , yeah, gross misrepresentation alright
.Heaven forfend that RTE is called out for failing to highlight a major refereeing error in LOI. Anyway, throw in was least ten yards from where it should have been taken, but RTE decided to be coy on that in their"narrative"

You said "only a few yards away". That would indicate it was fine - ah sure it was only a few yards away like. But the report said "at least a few yards away". That indicates it was excessive.

I think the RTÉ report does highlight the error, and I don't see that they're trying to be coy, as you suggest

This is getting incredibly reductive/semantic now, but I honestly think "at least a few yards away" downplays it somewhat too and is a bit of a cop out. In my view it should have been more along the lines of "a significant distance away". Which by any sensible definition in footballing terms it was.

It's a Rovers/RTE/FAI conspiracy. Throw in Mossad whilst you're at it, probably, as no doubt the aluminium milliners of North Dublin central would have you believe.
It's the natural order of things that incidents like this tend to go your way when your in the course of being successful-I'm sure dundalk fans would attest to that.

I think that top or bottom of the table questionable decisions by refs do actually balance out over a season though they feel far more acutely when struggling and looking for that bit of 'luck'. I dont know how anyone cant look at the circumstance surrounding the goal and in particular that the throw in was not near where the ball went out of play, and not accept that it was harsh on Derry in a game where 1 goal made a difference. Imo the ref should have stopped play and had the throw retaken closer to the correct spot irrespective of club involved. If it were Dundalk that benefited I think I'd accept that it could/should have been chalked off but that I'd take those decisions that benefit my club anytime - tough on the opposition but c'est la vie.

Of course it should have been called back. Scales wasn't even in the TV picture frame where he took the throw. Cest lá vie.

Syl has come out of the coma

    Some obvious crossovers

Used to dealing with foreign talent
Used to having a Godfather who has to be obeyed
Used to having to deal with departures of trusted lieutenants in unusual circumstances
Has replaced Italians in the past
