players will be leaving in the transfer window, and some players last week took pay cuts, just goes to show there's more to soccer than money!
I’m not pedantic...I’m merely overly concerned with minute details.

Crazy talk. I've never seen a UCD fixture cause the 'full-house' signs to go up at the Brandywell. Or do much for the League's UEFA co-efficient....

So will that have an impact on Waterford's perfomances and chance's of promotion?

That's not been confirmed yet, though it may well happen. It's also probable, in at least one case, that it was going to happen anyway.

Probably not as much of an impact as Anto Flood!

Yep, let's have a team who are continuing to overspend from the sale of their ground (and who would have to spend even more if they go up) and who are still a disaster in the making two years after they should have learnt; that'll do good.

We've only lost one in four in Europe; if every had as good a record as us, the coefficient would be better.

Shels are not drawing down any money this year from the sale of Tolka Park.

Costs are being entirely funded from gate receipts, fundraising and sponsorship.

On what basis and knowledge of how Shels are now doing their business, can you say we are 'still a disaster in the making'?

Just because we'd sell an extra few tickets one or two weekends is no reason to have them back. We survived last season without them and it looks like we might just manage it again this season. Shelbourne effectively cheated us out of a treble a couple of years ago. There's rivalries and then there's just breaking the rules. If I want rivalries I'll look to St. Pats, Bohemians (the Oman/Brennan/Fenlon/top 3 battle is more than enough to give that one spice), even Finn Harps, but not Shelbourne.

Tough luck, they deserve to be where they are at the minute. Give me UCD, a well run, decent footballing side with a talent for unearthing talented youngsters and sound financial sense over the club prepared to risk all on one mad throw of the dice. As for Europe, I'd rather our teams got gradually better over time, even if it is two steps forward and one back at the moment, than one mad dash that inevitably ends in tears. Surely you would prefer if our European advances were built on solid, sustainable foundations rather than a one-off match against Deportivo?

Do you get off on this telling lies about Shelbourne ?
Did you have the box of hankies beside you as you typed that ???

'continue to overspend from the sale of the ground'

We sold the ground (very stupid idea), we spent most of the money we are likely to receive from that deal (very stupid idea), BUT we're not spending any more of that money!
In fact on top of this years running costs at the club which will be funded entirely from this seasons income we have also managed to service some of the debts from before the 2007 season. If anything, our overall debt is reducing!!

100% of this years income is not going into running the club, it's a mixture of running the club and servicing old debt.

How can you say that's overspending ?

I didn't say anything about drawing all the other games. Three wins in every four would be good.

Though need I point out how abysmal Derry's record is, one good season apart?

Can't be long to go now before Stu comes along with the answer to the above question.

That's post number 130 Stu if you need reminding.

as a matter of interest, what is the long term plan for a ground to play in if the ground is sold?

its a real pity what once was the best ground in the league, is going to be lost to the league.
