On the Oliver Reed thing, I was of the understanding that they had to change the ending somewhat because of his death as apparently his character was meant to survive to the end of the film.
Dark Knight is in post production and set for release in the summer. I'm just wondering how Warner Bros are going to handle the marketing now. Are they going to pull all the ad's/trailers? Stick with the original release date?
I feel awfully sad thinking about his little girl growing up without her father...
On a happier note: Colin Farrell's new film was opening the Sundance Festival. I watched the trailer and it looks pretty good. "In Bruges" it's called, check it out.

Not quite.
Reed was meant to have some exit dialogue during the escape scene which was originally to feature about 3/4 way through the finished movie. This dialogue would intimate that he was going to high tail it out of there, look after himself, and that Maximus was on his own, as Reed's character wasn't going to stick around for the carnage to follow.
After Reed's death, Scott couldn't film the scene despite the advances in technology available to him, and as he said himself , it worked out better using the near-silent CG footage , as the dimly lit reaction shots gave the Proximo character a more noble end, in light of Reed's tragic passing, but aside from some that slight restructuring (using already-shot footage and manipulated CG shots) no further adjustment to the script was required.

Has to be the greatest actor in the world right now IMO(would have been Tom Hanks until he dissappeared of the radar...well until recently anyway).
You know your going to see a cracker when his names on the list!.
Three of the best films ive seen in the past year were ''Deja Vu'', ''American Gangster'' and his newest film ''The Great Debaters''. I dont think the last one is getting a cinematic release here as i watched it online a number of weeks ago and still havent seen any sign of it since.
Also all the films you mentioned are amazing although i have'nt seen ''Man on Fire'' ive heard good things about it
Really looking forward to watching ''Cloverfield'', anyone who went to the Transformers would have seen the 3/4 minute clip, That left you on the edge of your seat wondering ''What the hell just happened''. Amazing form of advertisment, not even a name was given to the film until recently!!
There's the right way, the wrong way.... and the Max Power way!! :-D
Tom Hanks dissapeared off the Radar? We are talking about the same Tom Hanks , right?
He's been in at least 1 Award winning movie, a blockbuster hit, or a Worldwide newsworthy flop almost every year for nearly 25 years without a break!
Charlie Wilson's War (2007)
The Da Vinci Code (2006)
Cars (2006) (voice)
The Polar Express (2004)
The Terminal (2003)
Catch Me If You Can (2002)
Road to Perdition (2002)
Cast Away (2000)
The Green Mile (1999)
Toy Story 2 (1999) (voice)
Saving Private Ryan (1998)

A League of Their Own (1992)

Dragnet (1987)
The Money Pit (1986)

Pretty much spot on about Day Lewis though. Along with De Niro & Pacino, he's one of the last of the true method actors.

I didn't mean it as in why didn't you see that it has been mentioned before.
Its a multi page thread so some films will get mentioned multi times
I watched half of 2 days in Paris last night and I am not so inspired to watch the second half, is it worth the effort?
So far the 3 best scenes have been the ones with the taxi drivers, about 20 seconds each.
Yeah.
Im not great at maths, but I'd go with the guy who said 7. Because he can count. And he counted that one correctly. You said 3. You were wrong.
Counting Denzel's movies from Jan 2007 to Jan 2008 I get ...Errrmmm...American Gangster. (That's "1" )
He's been quiet this last few months.
(The Great Debaters , good as it is, will be straight to DVD Spring 2008. ) Wrong there too. Unlucky , dude.
Bearing in mind that it has only been out in the last 3 months in the U.S. , a limited release in the UK or Ireland would be the best we could expect in the next few months.
EDIT :CORRECTING 2007 TO 2008 An incorrect year error - and obviously so. Nonetheless, subject to selective quoting.

I know there was 7, i was only counting decent/motion/heard off pictures. i.e ''Catch me if you can'' ''DaVinci Code'' and ''Charlie Wilsons War''
Would hardly class the two animated films, and never heard of the other two, so stand by the ''disapeared off the radar''comment. Has'nt appeared in enough motion pictures the past few years to hold the best actor award.
So just stick the word decent before the 3 so
There's the right way, the wrong way.... and the Max Power way!! :-D
Eeeerrr, unluck dude ''The Great Debaters'' was released in America, Xmas 2007, American Gangster-2007 and Deja Vu- Nov 2006. See if you read my post right i said '' has 3 out NEARLY in the past year alone''
So next time your gonna take the ''smug'' post route, read the post properly and get ALL the facts right.![]()

Jesus.
Stephen Spielberg's' $100m grossing The Terminal with Catherine Zeta Jones,
The Oscar Nominated 'Cars' with Paul Newman, for which Hanks took centre stage in all the European press conferences for, despite the fact he had just a cameo role, and
The Polar Express, Robert Zemeckis triple oscar nominated (in the Movie categories, not "animated") Christmas film, which, again, Hanks took pole position in promoting...
And finally, Award winning "American Beauty" director Sam Mendes' Oscar winning 'Road to Perdition' , again , with the Oscar Winning Paul Newman (which had another 6 oscar nominations, a Bafta & Golden Globe win, as well as an Empire award Nom for Hanks as best Actor)
And still he was "Off the radar" ?
You didn't count ANY of these? (or, rather, count any of these as "decent" ?)
Do you WATCH films at all?
Just because you havent "heard off" them doesn't mean Hanks has been off the radar. (We suspect Someone has been, but we don't think it was Tom Hanks... )

Well, go to see 'The Great Debaters' in America in 2007 then, instead of wondering (as you did in your earlier posts) whether it's going to get a cinema release "here".
Be specific. USA or "Here" .
Oh, and if you're going to accuse me of being smug just because I research facts instead of blathering out random shyte, you should at least learn to spell "Unlucky" correctly, so you dont look like a complete tool when you're trying to look clever.

Watched "The Miracle of Berne" last night on RTE2.It was a light hearted look at the 1954 WC victory by the Germans who beat the then wizards of world football Hungary in the final.Good wee film which apparantly won a few awards. It recreated a real sense of time and place which imo a lot of films struggle to do.Switched over from Remember the titans starring our mate Denzel which was looking way too predictable.
BTW re:Tom Hanks I thought Catch me if you can was very enetertaining and a little underestimated.
I'd say a lot more people would have trouble associating him with those two MOTION films aswell, I go the cinema a good bit and watch a lot of films, and wouldnt have been able to name him in them.
As for the animated films, i'd hardly still call him on top of his game for that.
What differs the likes of himself and a few others from the bunch is the performance he gives through visual impact. That isnt visable is an animated film so i wouldnt count them!.
Can you class the actress who does Marge Simpsons voice a great actor?, after all i think she is the one who has never done any work bar voice acting. All in all its an art in its own but would'nt let someone hold the greatest actor accolade as there not actually featuring!!
''Be specific USA or here'', Didnt i say that i watched it on the net, hence my question what was the story with it in europe!!.
Ya i left out the Y in unlucky because i was typing from my bed and my eye sight is'nt great, regardless i don't care i was'nt been the initial smart-arse here was i?
Well then if your pointing out more things, you said ''Spring 2007'' that would mean it came out on DVD here last year so
Not sure why so many posters on here have to be so smart about everything, nothing going on in your real lifes so ye have to create drama?
Anyway let the thread get back on topic, like it was!!

Road to Perdition is a great flick, Newman was fantastic in it. I liked the terminal too, suprising too because i usually dont like that kind of movie!
De Niro and Pacino are simply greats. I really enjoyed "this boys life", not that well known but great performances from de niro,di caprio and ellen barkin!Once upon a time in america, raging bull and taxi driver were excellent also. Wasnt impressed with hide n seek though.
Pacino is just great in every role iv seen him! The devils advocate, any given sunday, scarface and the godfathers my favourites.
Saw Walk hard the Duey cox story . Very funny i hadnt heard much about it went to it when no country for old men was sold out laughed all the way through piddle take of Walk the line .
