Back in the day we would have lads outside with clickers counting the people going in at Turnstiles as it was a normal thing to underdeclare the attendance and thus have less to share with the oposition0
I think with cashless ticketing for the most part these days it has become less needed.........also i think the admins are more honest these days in a strictly relative way.

Bit like stealing each others balls in the warm ups used to be a thing , i often find myself tut tuting watching our players pinging errant oposition balls back into the other half instead of quietly passing it to the kit man to slip into our ball bags.....

UEFA Women's Europa Cup qualifying round

Athlone Town 0-3 Glasgow City (Agg 0-6) 1,400

Athlone Women's team attracted some great attendances to the Athlone stadium during their European adventure.

154 at Athlone vs Kerry - even allowing for a Monday night fixture, that must be one of the lowest figures recorded since the Salthill & Mervue era?

Gotta be. And the monday thing is no excuse cuz Harps had over 500 at their match and Wexford have a longer trip there than Kerry did to Athlone. They're having a rotten year

Athlone had a heap of 100 and 120 attendances given for 2022 season without any official figures.

I was going to say I don't know how the whole Athlone thing is sustainable, given figures like that. I suppose that the income from that game was essentially zero, considering the season tickets and kids, but it seems the average isn't a million miles away from the median of 754 in the First Division.

I dont think i appreciated how big the gap is now between the bottom of the PD and the middle of the FD

Ashley Cahill used to post here years ago. I know him well as went to college with him in Sligo IT in mid 90s. He was one that was controversially banished from the club. I dont see him around any more as he goes to GAA matches instead but a huge loss to the loi as he was a great guy!
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

Was there a purge of supporters? Marty, that opposed the direction the club was taking back in the day? I seem to remember a supporters boycott about 15 years ago and it had been all downhill ever since.

There was talk of solicitors letters being banded about at the time. There were boycotts held outside the ground and the club reacted by putting something up on the fence to obscure their view, that's how bitter the whole thing got.

I'd meet lads who were die hard Athlone fans on Ireland trips and they don't view it as their club anymore, id actually go as far as to say they hate it

There was around 1,000 left yesterday evening so I’d say the hype might see it go close with sales today alright

Match is sold out - approx 10,000 so only around 200 seat ‘kills’

Yeah that sounds right with the timespan Redarmy and yeah there was a purge of supporters. Wow the time has flown by so quickly! Ashley as far as I remember was photographer at matches there.

It's like Mortal Kombat, but with seats.

Seems to be plenty of space watching on TV.
