I think so, 3 -3 ht, Town went ahead in 75th, with clinchers after 90.

Salthill the only non league club through the Last 16. All 10 Premier clubs and 5 First Division clubs also through to the Last 16. Big prize on offer this year with the Europa League spot on offer.

That was a handy 8-0 win. I was hoping to beat the club all time record win at one stage. It stands as 8-0 v Limerick in 67 in the league & 8-0 V Pike Rovers in 16 in the cup.

Never seen a team as out of their depth against us. That should have been a double figures win.

Men against boys out there. Saw what I presume was a parent of one of the UCC players wearing a Cork GAA jersey, a rough rough day for him!

I took a run over to the Castlebar game this afternoon and it was a cracker. The first half in particular was all drama, and one of the best games you're likely to see this season. The final score was harsh on Castelbar, with fitness and experience coming to the fore at the end of the game. Longford are no great shakes as a team to be honest.

I know the plan is for Mayo FC to join the third tier next year, but judging by today Castlebar Celtic would themselves be a decent addition to the league. There was a good crowd there (hard to guess, but high hundreds if not 1,000 or so), and a lot of people were in club merchandise - which suggests a depth of support beyond just turning up for one big game. The ground itself isnt bad, but would need a bit of work to get to LOI level (i.e. some seating, a roof). The pitch could also do with a bit more levelling out. Hopefully the Castlebar footbal public get behind the new Mayo FC team. If they don't then Castlebar Celtic themselves would be an obvious alternative for that area.

Castlebar might win something, Mayo will never rise above runner-up. The description by EYG sounds like a football club, Mayo FC is a plastic imitation and like the Oriel pitch not a good one!

Mayo League, like the Kerry League, have a history of representation when they have been allowed. Just because representation football isn't in Louth's DNA, that doesn't make it the incorrect choice for Mayo. Different regions have different histories and possibly different approaches to take.

Looked like a decent crowd at Castlebar, anyone at it and knows the attendance for the game. Read on Facebook of several hundred to near 1,000.

I'd say close to 1000 if not 1000 surely, nowhere free around all sides of the pitch. About 30-35 Town fans on the bus and at least double that that came separately. A good day had by all

Even the whole 'representation' thing in domestic snior league football is just wrong. It sounds like the NI Super Cup, where youth leages like Dundalk Schoolboys league pick a league representative side to be more competative against the larger clubs like Man Utd or Loughgall. County Fermanagh v Tyrone, grand for youth football blitz but not senior. Mayo v Kerry or Derry City v Finn Harps.... Jeez Im beginning to think the worst thing the Brits did to Ireland was introducing a county system.

Fairly sure Castlebar played in the old Eircom U21's and the A Championship too.
In classic GLITW fashion, we'll end up with two teams from Mayo, both based in Castlebar!

Think the official attendance was just under 1000, about 200 odd from Longford. Great day out, and a thoroughly exciting game to boot, even though we made it harder than it needed to be for ourselves with some terrible defensive work. In the hat for the next round which is the main thing.

Tralee Dynamos were in the A Championship as well. Mayo, similar to Kerry, have been progressing through the youth leagues.

Going back to 2018, non-league clubs have one win (Maynooth v Cobh in 2021) , one draw (Kilbarrack at Treaty last season, and they lost on pens) and 61 defeats against LOI sides

Are many, if any, of non league clubs in the calendar season?

Not many even scored in their games this round, just two I think.

Cant get them on the same page, to agree on something as basic and fundamental as aligning league seasons! Not at all a problem for a one size fits all model, or the brilliant Irish ability to have hissy fits and fall out and pull the plug on the best laid successful plans. Plans are only plans and personal gain and vested interest tend to rule over the bogger picture and common sense. Ok Kerry works, Mayo might, but too many more and there is too high a risk of volatility. LoI - always expect worst case scenario and everything else is a bonus, Kerry is in bonus territory already.

I'm asking regards non league clubs knocked out of the FAI Cup. Going to be of a more uphill task for any in their off season.

Castlebar Celtic is the only non-league team in the second round which plays a summer season, as far as I'm aware. And very few of the previous seasons' non-league sides would be in that category
