Aiden could play for Spartak again despite rift with manager, says manager.

I'm waiting to hear a quote from any EPL manager about McGeady. Surely with so many Irish journalists around, a question will be asked at some point, but until then all we know is that Aiden's agent is very active in the media at the moment.

The Russian Premier League has gone into hibernation now until March, so I would imagine if McGeady's leaving, then you'll hear about it quick enough. I would say though, if there isn't a concrete bid for him before Xmas, then he'll be staying until the end of the season.

In an interview (around October) he made a key point, saying he wants to leave with a trophy - something to show for his time in Russia. Spartak are well placed, a point behind Zenit and Lokomotiv, in 3rd spot, but they have a nice run after the break that should see them steal a march on the others. Lokomotiv's squad isn't up to much, and Zenit look an ageing squad at the back and in midfield to me (Wixtsel apart). I can see them being right in contention at the end of the season, and McGeady only adds to them.

The other thing is that he effectively gets two months off now, and by all accounts its the better half that is homesick, so it's possible he could head back to Mockba knowing he's three months to win a league medal and get back to england.
Here they come! It’s the charge of the “Thanks” Brigade!

Newcastle are also alleged to be in the hunt for McGeady now along with Everton, who already tried to sign him on a pre-contractual agreement: http://www.independent.ie/sport/socc...-29831273.html

Meanwhile, another Irish international, Aiden McGeady, has also appeared on the radar of Premier League managers, as Newcastle United's Alan Pardew has joined Roberto Martinez on the hunt for the Spartak Moscow winger.

McGeady's contract expires in May -- although Martinez and Everton have already made an attempt to sign the Glaswegian on a pre-contractual agreement. Alerted to this possibility, Newcastle have also sent out feelers to see if the 27-year-old could be persuaded to move to the north-east of England.

I would definitely prefer to see him playing for Martinez than Mr. Smarmy. If the Mrs. is sick of the cold she'd probably prefer Liverpool than Newcastle also!

I know we haven't got any competitive games between now and then, but it would be nice to see McGeady get the move during the January transfer window. It's unlikely he'll reconcile with Karpin so maybe they'll realise that once McGeady has signed a pre-contract that they may as well send him packing for free and save on his wages.

Be great to see him, Coleman, McCarthy & Gibson all key figures in a European qualified Everton side in a years time with Duffy getting game time too ideally. That and I still feel there is an implosion possible on Tyneside, matter of time with that lot.

    McGeady is an "a**hole".

All these reports coming out about McGeady make me wonder how he would cope with being dropped for Ireland, because God knows his form has warranted it several times.

Reports are claiming Everton are closing in on the signing of Spartak Moscow winger Aiden McGeady. The Republic of Ireland international has been linked with a move to Everton for some time and Roberto Martinez is thought to be keen to push through a move for the former Celtic man.

Titov? The primadonna himself. Sorry drug-cheat primadonna.

All these "reports" about McGeady are coming from Spartak sources who are peeved because they seem to know he's off, and they'll get nothing back for him having spent a few roubles to buy him. The guy has been absolute quality for Spartak, and frankly Ireland are poorer offensively when he isn't selected. Along with Coleman, McCarthy and possibly Gibson, he is one of the absolute certs on the team-sheet for me.

He lost out to Liam Lawrence for the France playoff games, pretty sure he just got on with it.

King dropped him for both his games. Don't recall many complaints from the player

I'd prefer both of them to stay clear of Newcastle. In McGeady's case, he should take note of how sparingly Pardew tends to use Hatem Ben Arfa. Ben Arfa is a huge talent but seems to be seen as a bit of a luxury there in recent times. McGeady could fall into the same bracket whereas I think Martinez would be more inclined to embrace the 'luxury' element and I think Pienaar's place is there for the taking.

Long could also find himself sitting it out seeing as he's a pretty streaky player, goals wise. I think Steve Bruce would be more appreciative of his overall game and what he contributes outside of goals, as he is with the less than prolific but very industrious Sagbo.

If it is a pre-contract for the summer, then hopefully he can sort things out with Karpin and play a role for Spartak for the rest of the season. It would be great if he had a league title to show for his time there.

    This predates BS's info.
