Setanta winner would be a good one I'd say. Gives a bit of incentive for teams both side of the border.

Would have to be one of our better teams involved or the inevitable hammerings would "prove" the bar stoolers view of LOI. Would prefer to see League winners as LOI team involved with co operation* around fixtures.

    * If such is possible in LOI

Yes but did the break not coincide with the DSC last year? Theres no break scheduled for it this season but like I said 5th-6th AUG. looks most likely.

Wasn't there European fixtures around the time last year? Half the players couldn't participate because of European competition.

I accept and understand some people's qualms about a representative team but it's a good chance for the league top players. It worked out well for McClean last year. That showed there is value and merit to players proving themselves against some of the best clubs in Europe.

I think it was generally put in perspective and there wasn't much league bashing over it. Clubs were involved in Europe and some of the league better players were not involved. Personally I'd like to see an LoI XI take on an Irish League XI home and away every year in March/April as well as having the DSC in the summer.

It's the league of Ireland Bonnie! Mondayish is as specific as they can be!!
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

It'd be good to have the old interleague fixtures back. The LOI XI can only be positive and not just to showcase talents. It will all depend on money though.

I know. But still... They could have easily paraphrased and said "around Monday".

Yeah but a direct quote is better than paraphrasing. It's not really any more inelegant than "around Monday" anyway.

Using -ish at the end of a word in such a fashion is unacceptable in my eyes in the Paper of Record.
