There's a lot of refs who don't know the rules as well and that's a fact, too many of them on ego trips who have never played the game,I've seen many a game ruined by referrees incompetence as I'm sure you have.if a lot of them used some common sense their wouldn't be half the trouble their is at the moment, also a good few of them not fit enough to officiate games and that causes a lot of problems,I see many of them reffing from the centre circle as they are not able to get around the pitch, refs should cover more ground than players IMO

refs arent the only one on ego trips, many a game was ruined by sidelines aswell. no refs no game simple as that. some players going around thinking there footballing geniuses, and really a junior player is a junior player

In fairness theres a good few refs around the town lads, and without them (good or bad) we'd have no football.
Also its a thankless job for a ref, considering we all make mistakes (players, managers and refs) but when a ref makes one mistake he gets abused, but yet the players and managers very seldom do.
A lot of credit has to be given to refs in general because I for sure wouldnt ref a game for €48 (and in some cases less) for the amount they have to put up with and especially in Limerick.

I don't think that anyone would argue with the fact that the refs make it possible for us to play ball every weekend and of course they are entitled to make mistakes. What is not acceptable though is when a ref is given a game in his local town or village and throughout the game makes clear decisions that favour the home team.

Does anyone know if refs train, there's a lot of them who don't look like the do.if they are not fit enough to keep up with play they shouldn't be reffing, that's where a lot of problems arise,

You tell me,no matter what division they are reffing in they should be able to keep up with play, would you not agree????Players can find the the time for training so they should, and they are getting something out if it.

I was referring to the Bruff vs Athlunkard game last Sunday. You know it will be an uphill battle when you arrive to see the ref on the home sideline having a some very friendly banter before the game even starts

no matter how good or bad some refs are there are clubs who will abuse or use any means possible to gain an advantage.how many games do u see when the ref is always wrong depending on whos winning.lots of supporters should take off the blinkers and let ref get on with it.pike ,balla, hillceltic and moyross almost forgot bruff and croom who are guilty of this.

ref that day was not from bruff and i think there are refs that have been around a long time and see the same faces at matches for years and get to know these people none of the people would have been playing you see it week in week out in town refs know players personally because they have been in the game so long nothing atal to do with that they will be bias towards them they just know them from the game..and when you say you arrived and the ref was over talking to the home side that must of been when he was checking the boots because the ref came jst on time checked the boots and started the game..bit of sour grapes because the ref sent of 1 of ur best players??
