Garvan has played a lot of pre season due to Peter White being injured.

Well able to tackle but general consensus is he's a bit green, tends to think "I'm a full back so my job when I get the ball is to belt it out for a throw as far up the field as I can"

And that's not the Limerick way.

Not being critical though, he's a youngfella like. I'd very much expect Peter White to be the starting right back though.

McCarthy looks pretty decent, played the second half today and has played in every pre season game, probably a starting centre half at the moment, had a bit of a hard time in Kilarney but the weather was shocking. Could be a very good player and no disrespect to Athlone or Longford but he'll probably benefit from having Paddy Purcell and John Frost either side of him.

Drogheda were, I'm sorry to be so blunt, S**T. I can only assume that the FAI was feeling charitable in letting them back up.
Having said that I still do not understand why the GAA match next door had 5,000+ attending while there were, tops, 300 in Hunky Dorys. Honestly.

3 ex-Pats there. Freeman was awful when he was young. must be in 30s now? Been on downhill since 2003. Flynn was a promising youngfella but had his leg smashed in a challenge that caused another A team player to puke! Oviously hard to come ack from that. Costigan played about 4 times for the first tea over 3 years, including scoring the gal that knocked Limerick out of FAI cup in 2009.

None of them near good enough for Premier. At least Drogheda do aqctually look like they've mad the cutbacks they said they would

McNamara played earlier in pre-season for us. Hanaphy has potential - scored every 46minutes for us last season as an impact sub - but looks like he's really been thrown in at the deep end for us.

Is that the same Jack Flynn who played for us against Longford a couple of weeks ago so? Had assumed he had signed for us, but must have only been on trial.

Cian Byrne was with us as well; never made a first-team appearance (bar in a friendly against Hamilton) and retired from the game mid-season. Franco's been around the clubs as well - us, Athlone, Bray, Shels.

Looking forward to the opening day now.

We better make sure he is contracted and registered.

    Michael O'Neill might be interested.

I heard that the defence still looks fairly dodgy from this game, but saying that, Dergview have a decent attacking side. Was that lad Johnny Lafferty playing for Dergview? That lad's a dynamo of a player. Surprised he's not playing at a higher level.

He was with us last season, scored against Longford in first game and done naff all else. Wanted too much time on the ball.

Strange, because any time I've seen him he's been quality. Maybe the IFA 1st Division is his level.
He scores a cracker at the 30 second mark in this video:

Very capable player but he left us midway through the season claiming he found the step up in level tougher than he thought.
The IFA 1st is a poor enough standard, play is much slower and there is alot more time on the ball.

its going ahead. Just a bad list.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

I somehow seem to be registered for Bohs texts updates. Got one today saying the game is on in Dayler and admission is €10, a tad steep isn't it for a pre-season kickabout?

is it? How much, if anything, are other clubs charging into friendlies out of interest?

I'd say between a fiver and €8 at most.
Surely general admission for league games won't be far from €10 for the majority of clubs this season.
