No i woudnt count that as going out of existence ,a cork city club still remained under the Foras name and is now Cork City FC,
so it was saved by its fans. There will be no fans trying to save Fingal , and there was no fans trying to save Kildare County or Dublin City.

I think alot of Shels fans could swallow that rather than another few years in the first ...
For what? What would Shels gain. 50 more fans??

Fingal Shels would be more approriate and keeping the Fingal name would give the Lusk plans a better chance.

Well if you're just going to discount all counter-examples I suppose you'll always right. Neither Cork nor Derry were saved, though - new clubs were set up which bought the names from the old clubs, and all the people who were owed money were burned. Sporting Fingal could easily be "saved" in the same fashion, especially with council support.

Dont forgot Tolka is already sold and the money spent, Shels are sitting ducks there with no where else to go ...

I've hear stories from Tolka that the Shels board were raging when Buckley popped up from now where and cosyed in with Fingal CoCo from the start.

Fingal CoCo are one of the few people who can offer Shels a long term home option of any sorts!

    Hello!?

Look at the picture, Fingal could well be dead and buried, its not about them, if Shels could effectively get back into the premier and get a leg in the door with the council that's a win win for Shels!

No debt either, which puts them in a better position than 7/10 clubs in Ireland.

    Hello!

Why would Fingal CC want anything to do with Shels? I don't see the benefit for those 2 to merge.

Fingal are nothing, if Buckley wants to go down with the ship so be it, but a token merger with Shels that saves face somewhat for him and maybe the FAI and lets him continue his Lusk project might suit him, might it not?

Any potential merger can **** right off but I'd love if Fingal County Council wanted to work more closely with the club if the Fingal demise comes to fruition. No changing anything to do with the name, the crest, or any stupid gimmicks, but if Fingal are looking to have a team play in the area, and get involved with the Sport In Fingal project, one which could actually attract and already have fans, it'd be a bit of a no-brainer.
Lets redefine what it means to heal

Any chance of us getting back into Europe then ?
#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), only Irish club to win a game / points in Europa League Group Stage (2016).

Thats the dream - 2 years running. Really if that happened I'd be over the moon but at the same time a little worried about the poor state of the league

Dundalk is one of the oldest clubs in the league, its development to this day is over a hundred years, rather than a quick 3-4 year period of boom to bust. Fingals business plan was doomed to fail, when they have money they should putting it into development of the club instead of throwing it away on players wages. I take no pleasure in Fingals plight, but its no ones else’s fault except those who run the club. As a LOI fan they potentially represent another black mark on the league and this is something the league as a whole doesn’t need.
Whether you let somebody else into your accout to make the posts, or you forgot what you posted, pull the other one.

Dundalk had problems for a long time and if you know the real history of the club then you'd sing a different tune. The ignorance of "fans" in Ireland is frightening. Just a few year ago we were the laughing stock of world football when a "fan" went with a can of petrol to the FAI offices, brilliant. At that Dundalk were struggling and are, as any other club in Ireland, a few steps from trouble. It's because of such "fans" that supporters will never develop.

No chance - we have a real club.

Real fans won't jump ship to an invented franchise.
    A transient, horrible, fantastic dream,
Wherein is nothing yet all things do seem:
From which we're wakened by a friendly nudge
Of our bedfellow Death, and cry: "O fudge!"

Seriously what are you talking about, Fingal can not be compared to Dundalk, totally different kettle of fish. As you seemingly already know Dundalk is a well established club with a long history and tradition, yeah Dundalks not perfect and I never claimed it to be. We all know about Maxi, we all know the dark days in the 1st division graveyard and before. But Fingal is a new club which in my opinion went about there business the wrong way, they thought the fan base would come if they put out a team of quality, instead they should've gradually building a fan base up and developing the club at the grass routes. Also if you are referring to me saying I did take pleasure in their plight then you misunderstood me, I may off saying things like they won't be missed and so on, but thats because I believe the way they run their club was unsustainable and that they added little to the league currently.

Also please stop putting the word fans in brackets, because its clear most people on here are fans and not "fans" and please refrain from using the word ignorant like your the only one who knows anything. Also most importantly if you want to highlight Dundalks problems please by all means start a thread with that title, this is Fingals thread. End of rant ..

I hope not. It's a shame to see another LoI club in trouble. I can't see how LoI can be expanded. It has to be reduced to 20 clubs in total.
