Bonnie can I just say for the last time. I never denied anything ok. Read back over any of my posts in the thread and you will see. Im starting to think now that you are on a wind up, as iv said this to you before.

As for the fingal not having any identity, well the idea of the club from what I could tell was, that it is not a club created from the idea of fingal having a well established identity but a way of helping the area to re-establish the fingal identity. It was formed so people would start thinking of fingal as a defined area in the north of Dublin county again and hopefully bring a sense of pride to the area (whether it will work is another debate). There is a difference between north county Dublin and inner city Dublin (no jokes please) and a lot of people from around my area know this. We also understand about fingal in a way that a lot of other Dubliners dont. Now im not saying for one minute this is everybody but it is evident in a lot of people out our way. Most of the people Iv talked to about Fingal at games are delighted to have a club for our area finally. This is how they feel and why they support the club.

The Gannon resignation is not a surprise but not because I knew something yous didnt. I think it was quite easy to see that the writing was on the wall for us getting money from gannon when it was announced that anybody involved in Nama cant make contibutions to sport and so forth.

No head in sand, no denying anything just not wanting to get into endless arguments over this again and again.

Im worried and have been for a while now. Iv already said this in earlier posts.

THE departure of developer Gerry Gannon from Sporting Fingal has been confirmed, leaving the club in severe need of investment if they are to remain a professional outfit in 2011.

Gannon's cash propelled Fingal into the upper reaches of the Premier Division and to FAI Cup glory in the space of just three years.

However, the developer -- who was a member of the Anglo 10 -- is now tied up in NAMA and is unable to spend money on any recreational project ..................

It was a crazy idea pushed through by Buckley and a few deluded Fingal County civil servants, most of who don't even live in the Fingal county boundaries.

I think UCD lies in both Dublin City and Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown.

Fingal is a council administration area. Thats all.

I have never heard anybody say they were from Fingal if they were from Lusk or Littlepace, just that thats who does their bins and cuts off their water!

    What a load of nonsense.

What does it matter in footballing terms what it is ? This rubbish has been posted again and again and it has nothing to do with football .

For the record , i live in Fingal and proud of it. I support a football team that represents Fingal and im proud of that and i couldnt give a fiddlers what the nay sayers think.

Fingal is far better than Termonbarry.

It was Lamper who spoke about that part of the debate so I commented on it.

I live in Fingal too btw. I don't see anything referring to the club in my area.

It's good that you feel pride in being from Fingal but I don't quite understand why or how. Pride in the club yes but in Fingal CCA?

So how does this leave Sporting Fingal FC for next season, how they retain their current players and also pay them full time now ? Surely they cant.

They played some great football and had a great side, but it was never going to last.

Would part time and a lower mid table finish be the best to hope for now? Also would they still survive if they got relegated ?
#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), only Irish club to win a game / points in Europa League Group Stage (2016).

Players signed based on the money the club has and not what they may have and the same will apply to any new signings.

True but thats football in general and we havent played the new season yet so the quality of football we play will be shown then.

Rovers said they were part time and won the league. The league finish all depends on the quality of players we have next season and i cant see a reason for us to have a poorer standard of players seeing that we have retained the best players. Not all the best players are those better know in the league. I would hope for the higher the better finish. I see us finishing top 3.
People are making the mistake that with Gannon gone its the end for Fingal which isnt the case. These things happen in football all the time and the club will cut its cloth to suit like i said at the start of this thread and base it on money they have coming in and not what we could get which a lot of clubs have made that mistake.
We are in europe next year and im sure Buckley would want to be competitive in that again.
If we got relegated it woul no doubt harm our ability to attract more support but we would survive .

Fingal are nothing without Gannon's money.

They were an artificial club created on paper without any football provenance or roots in football at any previous level.

Clubs with a support, history and tradition, along with a solid backbone of 'football people' could survive the loss of a major benefactor through established fundraising by and from their fanbase, added to a paying gate attendance.

Fingal Franchise with none of the above, are history.

    Good riddance!

What I don't get is how you aren't more alarmed to the fact that nearly nineteen grand a week has been removed from your budget.
