All of the Pike back line(Bar Enright) had been out over the last few weeks with varying injuries. Borris, well...Sometimes his attitude beggar's belief, he was fit, sure he only played last week for the Irish Amateur team against the seniors. They lacked anything in central midfield, thought Hartnett's performance tonight summed up his season. And Barry was certainly missed when he left for the hospital. Still no excuses, they'll be wondering 2 things tonight, firstly how they went 3-1 up and secondly how they lost on from a 3-1 scoreline.

Also you'd wonder how Gerry Smith picks his players....Didn't think the Carrick keeper was upto scratch at all...

Wonderful result for Carrick who have been battered by the Waterford media all week over the Ardagh Cup issue. Cracking game to watch, end to end full of mistakes, some excellent goals an and exciting penalty shootout. Pike played too much long ball stuff any football came from Carrick I felt the tall youth they brought on late in the game turned it for Carrick. What support the Carrick lads have and the players bonded with them in celibration. What a final now Clonmel v Carrick next Saturday in Cahir bet the Munster Council are happy. Nice to see a game won on the park and not via objections. More games like this, mistakes included, will give junior football some boast. Wonderful nights entertainment.

Carrick keeper is one of the best in the country, however he was involved in that incident in the Irish Amateur team against the seniors last week and it clearly effected him tonight. Having said that he saved a penalty something the Pike keeper could not do. Would have been fun if the lineman did not ruled a Carrick penalty had rebounded off the back upright, the ref had not a clue he felt it came off the post. It clearly went in and justice so was done. Clonmel crowd present were delighted Pike lost.

Any football was played by Carrick. They continuously tried to keep the ball on the deck. They had the opposition at sixes and sevens for extended periods as they put some nice moves together.
I was very surprised at Pike. At no stage was there an attempt at playing the ball to feet and try to play through the opposition. It was constant up and under. Very dissapointed. Judging from what I had read on this website I expected so much more.
Carrick gifted Pike three goals through sloppy defending and still found the wherewithall to fight back and win.
    Gripping stuff!!

Great game and as said already Carrick played all the football.Up and under stuff from Pike all day.Pike in the middle of the park are brutal - Hartnett the most over rated player i ever seen.Couldnt understand why Pa Mullins was on the pitch as clearly was injured.Well done to Carrick and best of luck in the final.

From what I could see it was 8 gifted goals... Worst performance of the year for Pike by far, it's been coming for awhile now. Surprised no one has mentioned the poor refereeing today, suppose it's been mostly Carrick posting up, very inconsistent performance from the Tipperary referee.

im delighted a footballing team went through typical pike big hoofs up to there big men long ball after long ball. anyone who tells me pike have a great management team needs there head exaimned the pike management cost pike rovers a MJC mullins was playing on one leg cleary the same harrnett should not get on the pike B team yet the two lads stood there and watched it without taken action. great to see a good honest club throw well done carrick when pike needed to dig down and show heart they failed.

wonderful result for Carrick Utd. They have been" in the wars" recently and to recover and prove their worth speaks volumes. This applies to keeper Adrian Walsh more than any , would`nt swop him for any other player in Ireland . Another point worth a mention is that all players are from Carrick , proof if needed that smaller parochial clubs can succeed.
    Congrats to Carrick Utd

Have to agree with that. Adrian Walsh is quality personified. Every team needs a rock to build on and as Ireland and Carrick Utd.'s number one , it speaks volumes for the man.
On the other point, yes , a team all locally based gives the side something that a side put together for the sole objective of winning a cup can never attain. It must be said that they are a footballing team who play to their strenghts.
Honest and hardworking their collective team spirit along with their loyal supporters is a potent combination.
Well done again to Carrick but remember it is only a semi final!

Congrats to Carrick. Thought Pike's attitude was off. Maybe they are winning too easily in Limerick and started to believe their own hype.

All good stuff on here about Carrick, yes saturdays results was a great achievement but as stated it was a semi final, Clonmel cannot be as bad again (st micheals game). The Carrick defence gave away awful goals against Pike plus the fact the Carrick mid field went out of the game for long peroids of the second half. They will need to improve to beat Town. I know for a fact town are delighted its Carrick and not Pike they are facing. Should be a cracker if Carrick keep their heads and play well I think they will win, but its a local derby cup final and anything can happen. As for the ref in Limerick I felt he acted in fear never seemed comfortable but his performance did not effect the result. Early in the game there was a shocking tackle on a Carrick defender that deserved red but apart from that could not see other red card calls. Both sets of players are big boys well able to dish it out and take it. Any out of town team that hits Pike for four deserves to win in my book. Still say it was a cracker of a game to watch ebbed and flowed all over the place dispite all the mistakes .. worth the 8 euro !!! for once.

I was a neutral at the game and the above post best sums it up. Pike looked home at 3-1 up but a rejuvenated Carrick, aided by a Pike collapse, turned it around. So much for the game I was amazed at how small the attendance was. Here we had two of the best junior teams in Ireland playing a provincial semi-final in Limerick. Where were all the followers of junior soccer in Limerick? Carrick vociferous supporters occupied most of the stand while Pike supporters were at the opposite side. Was there nobody else interested in watching Pike play in Limerick? It was a perfect evening for football and certainly great value.

Yes. The home following was small and the Carrick fans were more voiciferous than them . But I was not surprised at this as they, Carrick Utd, have a very loyal support base following the team and they really got behind their side.

    Saturday evening, 6pm k.o - Cahir.
Where will the main battles be won and lost? Will Clonmel pick up from their display v Michaels in FAI semi and will Carrick be able to produce another heroic display one week after their win in Limerick?
Promise to be an interesting evening!

Carrick Utd to win by 3 -2

i think its asking a bit much of carrick to produce another huge performance one week after the pike game. i havent seen them play but any team that can put 4 past pike cant be bad. is perfectly set up for town. they will be underdogs after been hammered by michaels and carricks result last week. they have had a couple of weeks off to regroup and will come into this game fresher and with a point to prove. the form book would suggest plenty of goals as both sides leaked goals against pike and saints, however, for this reason i expect a cagey tight game with very little in it. i hear town are delighted to be playing carrick and not pike so i expect a town backlash. 2-1 to clonmel possibly after extra time

I was at the match the other night in Jackman. The €8 i paid to get in, the only value i got was 8 goals. The defending from set pieces from both sides was absolutely shocking. I have read that Carrick played the better football during the game, i have to say i didn't see any good football from either side. It was a pity because i thought going to the match that it would be a cracker having two of the best junior teams in ireland playing each other but it never got going. 10/10 for excitment but for football entertainment there was none.
I can't remember any real clear cut chances during the game. The two net minders were very poor and seemed to have no confidence in themselves. Both midfields had no influence what so ever during the game. If i was Clonmel i would just sit back and defend and really go for it at the set pieces. They would be gaurenteed at least 3.
The pike management team have to take a real hit for losing the other night. Carrick played a lad at right back and i wouldn't put him in any "C" team in the country. They didn't exploit him well enough and the only two times they did they scored. The game changed on its head when Carrick finnally took the poor lad off who was having a shocker and went three at the back. This is when pike should have taken off a striker and bulked up midfield and just see the game out but they didn't and they lost. Fair play to Carrick for not giving up though.
Pike lost everything without the big red hair lad up front. Everything went through him and when he got injured, they got lost.
Best of luck so the Carrick and Clonmel at the weekend, hope it is a good match with please god alot more footbal than last week. Be wary of the referree who wont take any back chat or argueing. He is very essentric and will make a team pay for it with cards if they don't do what they are told
