I can't say I have noticed Doyle's supposed lack of pace.
Is it a myth or has he a lack of pace?
I haven't noticed pace being an issue for his game
He does have that short burst of speed needed to lose his marker but otherwise his game is fine. Coppell put him on the wing for some mad reason after having a fine first season in the Premiership and I think it sullied his game somewhat and dented his confidence somewhat. Hopefully he will score some goals for Wolves this season to get him going again. The best header of a ball since Frank Stapleton in an Irish shirt.
POTM jbyrne
he's consistent in his inconsistency, thats for sure.![]()
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.
nicely done jb
Its really not that complicated!!!
I meant he doesn't have that burst of speed to lose his marker, typing error guys..
Of course he has potential but whether he fulfills it or not is up to him and I have a feeling that he won't with Wolves,I hope I'm wrong btw....
Everton & Villa expessed an interest in him before the mid-season transfer window last year and it would have been good if he did go to them. I don't see any of the bigger clubs coming in for him. I don't see him having a good season with Wolves, again I hope I'm wrong but if he struggles with Wolves and they go back down and face it with McCarthys record it is more than a possabilty then Doyle will be back in the Championship again.
Doyle is great in the air and on the ground, if you watch Wolves match in and match out you'll know that he's always a willing runner, the issue is the service he gets, which has been pretty much non-existent lately.
No doubt he is good in the air and a willing runner, he is a pretty good striker like I said before, just not quick enough to ever be top class, not clever enough to ever be like sheringham or beardsley were and not strong enough to ever be remotely close to shearer. All the best strikers are quick as well as good in the air and tricky on the ground, Torres, Rooney, Drogba, Adebeyor, Eduardo, Defoe etc. Exceptions are the likes of Berbatov who is incredibly clever when on form and can open defences up without the need for pace.
Help something bit me!!!
Doyle has been absolutely superb in the United game so far. Makes you wonder do we utilise the lad right in our games??!
Anyone see Bendtner this afternoon? Replica of his hapless performance against Villa last year. Despite a goal in the Carling Cup against Liverpool he was utterly hapless in that game too. I watched Bendtner waste a hatful of simple chances today and I couldn't get this "conversation" with An Ceannaire out of my head! Just to recap I said Arsenal should sell Bendtner and buy Doyle, and net 3 or 4 million in cash but was called a"delusional head" by our pal from Limerick.

hes an excellent player RLP, totally agree. I cant understand the indifference to him that a lot of posters here show towards him.

Not my opinion but it's probably the fact that he's a striker and his goals to games ratio is not very good at iternational level.
Fans want to see strikers score goals and when you look at the stats you don't see how well he has played in games where he didn't score.
Would love to see a bigger team (top 8) come in a buy him if Wolves get relegated, or even a German team.
Thats mad was only thinking something similar today watching parts of the Arsenal game, does AW have something against Irish players? Both Given and Doyle have been available in recent times for relatively small transfer fees and both imo are far superior to what is available to them at present, notbaly Bendtner/Eduardo and Almunia.
