Can anyone remember a finacial story appearing in any tabloid here that wasn't true...
The point i was trying to make was that although i dont buy the Sun myself and am aware that they have been known to tell the odd porkie pie,was that i happened to pick one up on a seat beside me in the train this moning and there was a story on Cork.
Now being a forum of discussion i thought that i would put this on Foot.ie on the topic "petition to wind up Cork City"
Hope this puts your mind at ease Pete....sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Only another 9 titles till Drogheda become pride of county louth!!!

There was one false story about how the league was financially secure and every club could meet it's bills with money to spare.
Though that was in the Sunday Independent, which is only 80% tabloid.
If this story is in any way true, they'd be right to strike.
As a group of players, it's around the one year anniversary of when the nonsense started, there really hasn't been any let up.
I assume that if players haven't been paid, then off field staff are waiting for cash too?

Cork City: Making 'Dream Team' seem realistic since 2007.
One week til the next court date now.. any indications on how this is likely to go? The CCFC forum seems pretty silent on the matter.

Cork in court this morning. They offered to pay Revenue with profits of upcoming ipswich friendly (didn't realise they had one), but Revenue didn't agree and are pressing ahead with the case to wind them up
Doesn't look good for Cork
Source is a lawyer friend who happened to be in the four courts today

any more word on this yet?
not looking good.
posted on ccfcforum by the same source I quoted above
I was in court earlier. It has gone back to second call, most likely after lunch if anybody is in Dublin and wants to have a look. It's in Court 9 on the first floor in the Four Courts before Judge Mary Laffoy.
The 'money from the Ipswich game' offer seemed to be informed speculation rather than fact but Counsel for the petitioner said that the matter was going ahead today.
This means that unless Mary Laffoy is generous to Cork City Investments and gives them more time (which she has been known to do) then it looks like the company will be wound up and a liquidator appointed.

ahhh - I have a lot of cork buddies from my time in UCC and I know the passion they have followed the club with for years and it is the likes of them that really makes my heart bleed on this issue. Due to muppets such as their current chairman their club is looking like its going to the wall.
I know Cork shouldnt get away with overspending and they should have cut their cloth like the drogs but at the same time I do not want them to go out of business for the sake of the supporters I outlined above. Relegetion yes but extinction - hell no.
Despressing time to say the least.
Would it help their case if they told the judge they would have the money needed by the end of this season, as they might win the league the FAI Cup, the Setanta Cup and the new Europa league. It works for others.
Just got word from my man in the courts.
Cork have been giving a further 2 weeks to reach agreement with Revenue.
400k owed. No tax has been paid by Cork since they came out of examinership (Judge stated that this was the most worrying fact). Cork offered to pay €65k now and €20k per month, but seeing as no payments have been made this year, it doesn't look likely that revenue will be too flexible with Cork.
If an agreement isn't reached within the two weeks, a winding up order will be issued

Methinks it'll take more than the Ipswich game to clear €400k. Hard to see CCFC getting out of this but they've always found away to avoid the axe so far.
