Walk Hard , The Dewey Cox Story. Absolutely hilarious.
John C. Riley at his best.
    I'll update this next year.

    Possibly Best ending ever.

Bit like Usual Suspects where if you know the ending film is sort of pointless then.

Seen the climax developing aswell and saw the last twenty minutes for the first time. Definetly recommend it, I appreciate the too much information at the end comment aswell.

"Delicatessen"was on TG4 of course. Still unbeliveable an amazing. Loads of imagery, no need to spoil an ending with everything that goes on in that film.

Gran Torino: Was led to believe this was something other than what it actually was by other people. Not the best but not the worst. Middle of the road for me.

Burn after reading - easy watch but lacked the usual Coen wow factor. 3 out of 5.

Hunger - watched this last night and I was still a little stunned a few hours later after the credits rolled. Moving and shocking in equal measure. 4 out of 5.

Couple of Scorsese's on C4 the last few nights - The Departed which somehow I'd managed not to see before, Gangs Of New York which I had a couple of times.
Pretty good both, 7/10 at least.
Pretty much everyone is dead by the end of both too, Harpo.

If you like the departed check out infernal affairs, Hong Kong gangster flick which the departed was based on(and more or less stole the whole plot from) Far superior IMO

I've refused to watch The Departed for that reason. Pathetic that a remake (some of it supposedly shot for shot, and still somehow an hour longer) could win a best director Oscar. It'd be like de Camp getting a literary award for the Conan books by Howard he rewrote (assuming they were somehow worthy of one - haven't read them, but assume not).

    'Watchmen'

Looks well enough but very disappointing. I'll give it 3 out of 7.

I have avoided watching The Departed for the same reason. Internal Affairs is a cracking film.

how so? i fear the giant tar-brush is making its anti-american appearance once again! those implying that they as a film-loving nation have nothing original to offer would do well to sit down with the collected works of malick, kubrick, welles, coppolla, et al.

    I agree with you.
Some of the posts slag off a film thy have never seen. Moronic is a word.
I think "Ganster Genre" and "Film Noir" has to be patiently explained. But they may not want to sit still long enough.

Seen a Maori/New Zealand film about a whale. Even though it had a whale in it it wasn't rip-off of 'Free Willie II'.

    Watchmen. 8/10

Enjoyed it a lot. Very different, great soundtrack, all but one of the characters were excellent.

    Top moment:
Having just poured a basket of hot oil over an inmates face,

Roarchach: You don't understand, I'm not in here with you, your in here with MEEEEE!!!!

The posts in question slag off the awarding of highly prestigious awards for material which is uncontrovertially accepted to be highly derivitive. They do not "slag off a film". I expect better attention to detail from you, Harpo, or at least higher grade trolling.

funny, i bet you didnt even watch the C4 film i was on about
and to be honest i wasnt starting an anti-american thing - but hollywood does seem to copy a huge amount of foreign material (most without giving any due credit)

    This Is England

simply, one of the best movies ive seen in years. Nostalgic in parts and brilliantly acted.

    4.5/5

loses a half point for the (kind of) rushed ending.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.
