Think he would do alright actally, but not on any planet will Doyle join Man Utd.
He will be bought as back up, just isn't as good as those two.
If Villa is his only option I think he would be better off playing at Reading than warming the bench. If he does well in the Championship (get 10-15 goals by Christmas) there'll be a good few Premiership teams after him.

His all-round game is far superior to Agbonlahor, but he has a standout attribute pace, whereas Doyle has none really.
However Carew is a good bit better than Doyle in everthing bar mobility.
That may be right, but pace really tells in the top flight. I'd not noticed so much before, but he looked terribly slow in the game against Columbia. Defenders were able to make up amazing ground to beat him to the ball, when initially it looked like there was no risk of him losing the race.
Hmm... I don't think he lacks too much in pace... I think he is getting stronger and better at holding the ball up and creating space for others... I was impressed with him yesterday and on Wednesday. I actually think he would start for Villa in the majority of games, with Agbonlahor.
Steven Gerrard's cousin Anthony(Walsall), apparently set for Birmingham, played for the Ireland Under-18's, thought he was found to be ineligible.

Keith Andrews move to Blackburn finally looks like going through.

Back of the Herald today that Hunt is to make a move to Everton (yes I know its the herald)
Any sign of Doyle goin anywhere? 10% of anything would be welcome before window closes![]()
I hope for Ireland's and Cork's sake he gets a big money move to the premiership. I don't think he'd get into the Villa first team though.
I don't get why he needs to play in the EPL to benefit Ireland. Ireland play like how many games a year? 5....its more for personal reasons I want him to move.
I would much prefer Doyle to be playing for Ireland on the back of a hat-trick for Reading than on the bench coming on 'to change a game' for Aston Villa.
Not sure Doyle is up to it at the Premiership level. Just a personal observation as he lacks pace. Will be delighted to be proved wrong. A good season in the Championship might do him the world of good.
There is no such thing as a miracle cure, a free lunch or a humble opinion.
Ah Jesus..'lacks pace'...he's not Ronaldo circa 1998, but he's no slouch. His accelleration isn't so good, but he can definetly run. He has good intelligence...all be it he's no Riquelme...
He's easily...EASILY Premier League standard. 6 goals in a team that was struggling with really only Hunt and Shorey(he's overrated) creating with no penos...that is ok.

I agree, Im not convinced with Doyle, would like nothing more than to say he is a top premiership striker but im not sure. He is however capable of great goals like the one away in slovakia but not on a consistent basis and he has been on a downward spiral the last 12 months or so.
But he's not a 'top' English League striker, but he wouldn't look out of place at an Everton, Blackburn or Newcastle IMO.
