Pity no one got to see it - amateur hour by the powers that be at Rovers , we don’t need **** like that from them

"Them" ????
in other news , I see boez re-created the classic " let christy take it" moment. Oh, how we laughed.:D:D:D
Some good news at last then. Overall, not great. But, two sides are in the draw for the 2nd qualyfing round of the Europa League. So it isn't quite an awful year just yet.

Actually you’re right to question - meant them idiots that didn’t manage to organise a quality stream - as proven by WatchLoi it’s not that difficult- assume they’ll issue an apology and offer anyone who paid the option of a refund or free access to watch next round
I don't think it makes sense to claim they were unlucky not to get a second leg. That's just the way it's structured this year. And it's the same for everyone. Unlucky is when you could've had something and narrowly missed out. Second legs aren't on the cards this year, so aren't an option.
Me jaysus nerves...
Commiserations to Bohs. I watched most of your match and you were the better side. Now I will never say anything good about you rats again.
On our match, it was **** poor but we got through it. Referee was absolutely awful and there must be some curse on Tallaght that Rovers keep conceding penalties for defenders being smacked in the face with shots. The Finns had a bit about them at times and were well-organised but we should have won that in normal time rather than being behind twice.
It's not the same for everyone though. Riteriai got a home Cup tie effectively. Derry got an away one. That's not the same.
Yes, it was known in advance, but it does make this very different to previous European campaigns.
Look at Sligo against Banga a few years back for example. Banga were a bottom-of-the-table Lithuanian side who ended up relegated, and Sligo were a stronger side than Derry are now. Sligo drew 0-0 out there, but the first leg - among other things - is an important scouting trip too. Sligo won the home leg 4-0. Derry didn't have the chance for this this year.
(Similarly of course, Rovers are a bit lucky to have had the home draw and not have to go to Finland to win - although then again the result last night might have been different if there'd been a few thousand home fans at it)
I agree with Charlie , the ref and the lino were both brutal . The peno for a smack in the face and the free when Manus picked up the ball having had it deflected to him were just two of the many terrible decisions.
Your point about the crowd is bang on , when Rovers went behind last year at home the crowd reaction was incredible and noise and atmosphere created def spured the team on.
It is the same for everybody obviously but it is a real factor.
Have to take the hat off to Joey , he made two or three last ditch tackles , he cleared that free that was given for the non backpass and scored two penos....
At this present time - Northern Ireland teams have got the most points so far in Europe .. and still have 2 sides left! And they be up to 37th next year at the moment on the table. We presently 38th but slide to mid 40's next year.
Low 40s - to 48th, behind the Faroe Islands and Malta and just ahead of Gibraltar per Bert Kassies.
Of course they've been getting extra coefficient points from preliminary rounds we got byes in, but still and all.
Didn't buy the stream myself but saw a lot of tweets complaining about it.
Doesn't one of the Rovers directors part own a communications company? (although the company's website doesn't load, so not the greatest sign)
Surely they would have had the expertise available to them to stream the game properly. It seems Rovers haven't said anything about the poor quality of the stream either. Ignoring paying customers is never a good idea.
Maybe they'll offer last night's customers free access to a stream for the next round, if they can, which I'm sure people would be more than happy with as compensation.
And the actual facts are As per the detailed statement issued earlier today by Rovers:
Notice regarding the livestream of Thursday’s UEFA Europa League Qualifier:
We can only apologise to fans for the intermittent quality of the Ilves match livestream on Thursday night. A full refund is available to any purchaser of the stream by emailing support@inplayer.com
The club awaits a detailed report from the production company involved to understand where the issues lie and to ensure any future stream does not encounter similar issues.
A large amount of planning and preparation went into the production process but when issues arise on the night in a live situation there is very little, if any, opportunity to react and fix the issue.
We are working to get a highlights package together to publish as soon as possible including the historic penalty shootout
Hadn't seen that, as they haven't tweeted it. But that's good they're dealing with it.
Strange though that they referred a customer on Twitter to check their club website, instead of just tweeting details and the relevant link to that statement.
Rovers communications / media department is poor compared to some other clubs, especially considering the resources they have.
It makes sense, think passinginterest mentioned poor broadband to the stadium. That wouldnt be it, it would be scaling and bandwith issues with the company hosting the servers that play the streams. Its so easy to get right and for a company who specialise in this type of thing its a massive failure. Its the only thing they have to get right, and they got it terribly wrong. There were only 1.5k streaming at a max usually around 1200, its nothing in this day and age!
Either here or on boards it was mentioned that you could see how many people were watching it. The highest was 1.7k
You'd have multiple season ticket holders in the same house, lots of people giving up on the stream because of the quality etc. Plenty of reasons why the figure would be lower than you’d expect.
That's abysmal!
I know some on here were saying that our league just isn't that good, but our top clubs are certainly better than the NI clubs. The Unite the Union cup confirmed that. Not that we really needed that confirmation.
Shame on our clubs for performing so poorly over the last few years in Europe. There were some very winnable games that were thrown away.
Even though Bohs lost, I'd still say that their performance this year was the most impressive out of all our clubs. Fair play to Rovers for getting through and flying the LOI flag but they were favourites all the same.
Dundalk and Derry really made a bags of their ties.
Remember again the NI clubs have been getting extra points for the preliminary round of late.
And this year they only had 3 teams, so the wins were worth more.
48th is still really not encouraging, but the preliminary round really does mix things up at the bottom
https://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2020...penalty-drama/
"All of this season's qualifying round games will be played behind closed doors, with the next round set to take place on 17 September."
That's almost 3 weeks away? Under normal circumstances they wouldn't be so far behind but with the way things are at the moment any number of things could happen by then. I would have thought they'd have tried to rush these preliminary rounds regardless of them being 1 legged affairs.
Ya as loi101 says it was in the top left corner if you wanted to see it. I didn't take much notice first half when the stream generally worked bar a few minutes here and there, but in the second half I took notice as there wasn't much else to look at :D and it was max 1.5k but by the time it got to extra time it was much lower low 1ks. Funny how so many of us still stuck with it in the hope it "might just come back"
But the app is smart enough so I do believe that's the total as if you'd logged in once with the registered email it knocked you out on another device. As I went through various devices to try and see if that made a difference to the stream....
I knew though something was up as early as an hour before kick off when there was a warm up going on by the Finn's and the sound was ahead of the action and the players were passing in slow motion. Had it been a LOi side I might not have noticed :P
How are Luxembourg 32 that's mad ted.
Dudelange getting to the EL groups twice in a row I guess (and their defeat against UCD no longer included)
Though Dudelange didn't qualify at all this year, and the Titus Petange lost to a Gibraltar side, so they'll drop back I'm sure.
Lot of sponsorship money in Luxembourg.
Per capita Luxembourg is amongst the richest in Europe.
Anyone know why the Albanian sides are doing better in recent years. Is it state or outside investment or something else. I think all 4 clubs won their ties too.
Error
Yeah, on GDP per capita, they're second to none. Granted, we're second only to Luxembourg in Europe, so it's clearly not all that useful. Going by the lists [here]
Looking at their stadia sizes it does seem Luxembourg is punching above its weight in Europe. Their top ground holds less than 6,000. Perhaps their football federation has a clue what it is doing, and doing it well.
The're also bound to have access to a decent pool of players who may have been cast off or loaned out by pro Dutch/German/French league clubs etc, with little disruption for the player or big cost to incentivise a signing.
If I am reading Wikipedia correctly. They have assigned seeded and non seeded sides to Groups for the main path EL draw. With Rovers drawing one of Milan, Fehérvár or Zalgiris.
Wonder where they got those from. One glamour tie for sure and 2 possibly winnable ones too, especially if drawn at home.

Maybe it is not accurate information but all those Countries would be on the Green List I think.

Wouldn't you be sick to draw AC Milan and it behind closed doors?
Fehervar would be interesting - don't know has it ever happened that a club has faced two LoI sides in the same European campaign?
Dundalk will play either Slovan (again), Linfield, KuPS (Finland) or Inter. Of Andorra.
