Well Mancini has come out and backed Hart do that ends that
There is quite some focus here on Hart's every blip or perceived blip.
He is a very good goalkeeper. Mancini has to stick with him.
Conflicting reports today
This morning, it was reported on football365 that Given was willing to move to a Championship side: http://football365.com/story/0,17033...708730,00.html
And then this evening, the Manchester Evening News reports that he's not moving at all: http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereven...oberto_mancini
Some alleged ITK tweets + posts on the Leicester forum claiming that Championship club is Leicester http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/in...c=70401&st=160
Shame if he has to drop a league, but I think Leicester are a financial anomaly at present. Serious clout.
Various reports that Spurs have bid £4m for Given, and it's been turned down
Doesn't start today against Notts County either.
Hart was a little eccentric in two incidents in the first half today (did'nt see the second half)
He is young though.
I think its unfair that Mancini did not let Given play in the FA cup. Given should move if he gets a good offer anf if the Loads a money club let him go.
That's Robbie sorted, over to you Shay.
The solid backup. What a degrading (albeit lucrative) predicament he's gotten himself into at Citeh. I'll bet he's never empathised more with Steve Harper.
Only saw the goals on the news, but Hart didnt look great for their goal again, am I been over critical? But the robot that Hart was earlier on the year certainly seems to have disappeared.
Spurs making a bid for Given would seem like journo/8 pints2shorts/alcove epiphany stuff but I actually believe it. It makes perfect footballing sense for Arry and Spurs to bring in Given. Cudicini is well past his best and Gomes is a good keeper but I feel Given at his best can just shade him. Plus Redknapp has bought Gallas. Is trying to bring in Phil Neville today. He wants players with plenty of Premiership experience. This could go to the wire today.
thought harts positioning was terrible for that goal. standing in no mans land due to trying to clear the attacker out of his way. should of been a defender on him in fairness. zonal marking is an absoloute disaster.
shays main problem seems to be that city won't let him go to a rival club, which pretty much rules out anybody that would be interested in signing him
I was at the game yesterday and behind the goal when Hart conceded the goal. He got irritated with Westcarr (who wasn't doing anything wrong) and stepped forward to give him another shove when the ball came whizzing over his head. He's also a very quiet goalkeeper. Doesn't really communicate with his back 4. Other than that he had very little to do.
Interesting. I would have blamed the defenders - nobody got anywhere near the ball and allowed the attacker a clear run on the ball. Not much a goalkeeper can do in that situation except try and get in the way of the ball.
Arsenal rumoured to be making late bid for Shay......would be great news but doubt if Mancini will let it happen.

hes stayin it seemsQuote:
A few of you are asking about a possible Sven-Goran Eriksson swoop for Manchester City's second-choice keeper Shay Given but my understanding is there is no chance of the Republic of Ireland international joining Leicester, or anyone else today. City got left short between the sticks by an injury to Given last season when they had loaned Joe Hart out to Birmingham, and they are not going to run the risk of the same happening again this campaign. Given to stay, until the summer anyway.
What happens if Given has to stay at City (as just reported on the BBC site) and remains number 2 and Westwood moves to Wigan today? Big decision for Trapatonni.
I'm not sure it's fair to say Arsenal have a GK crisis. Almunia will be on his way, Fabianski actually looks decent when he gets a run of form up - the fans are becoming quite appreciative of him - and the other Pole looks quality in the making.
Would Westwood get a game at Wigan? Al Habsi looks very good. Just an aside - was Al Habsi the guy who came on late at the RDS and who also played in Algeria's second and third games at the WC? I thought he looked more than decent and was a country mile ahead of the hapless clown who started against us at the RDS and let in a howler against Slovenia.
No, Al Habsi's an Oman international.
Oooh scary.
